Oh that note, why do so many checkout pages insist on having you type "ns1" and "ns2" for nameservers even though they're not used anywhere, and having to type a hostname that's unique to their entire customer base and again, probably not used anywhere anyway as you have to type the hostname again when selecting what image to install. All that page needs is a button that says "yes yes, of course I want to buy this and I only have 0.2ms available before it sells out so I don't even care if the hostname is in klingon".

    And.... breathe!

  • admaxadmax Member, Megathread Squad

If the WHMCS panel removes NS1 or NS2 settings in the future and shifts to allowing configuration after purchase, it will be a revolution...

  • Oh and the ones that want the name for the service and then have another field for optional hostname where if you literally type anything there it's "no, that's not a valid hostname". It's full on trolling at that point.

I think my favourite was in Hosteroid where there is a question on their registration page that says "Are you human" with text field that says you need to type in Yes.

Took me a minute to find out that there is a separate field and it doesn't mean the captcha. I think few people said they missed their flash sale because of this confusion.

And for bonus points doing that, it should delete the password fields "for security" so that when you fix the captcha the form submission fails and you have to do the captcha again anyway.

welcome to the rat captchas

  • I can't even figure out what the ns1 and ns2 fields are for - I guess something related to cheap shared hosting, but I can't imagine how it would be useful during checkout.
