I tried some, and nothing comes close to GPT-4o-mini regarding the quality of responses for the price. 3 million output tokens on OpenAI gpt-4o-mini batch API is only $0.30 x 3 = $0.90!
Though with my new Macbook Pro with 48GB ram, going to try more local LLMs now
Yup, both home PCs and servers. Since all of the configs are synchronised using Syncthing, all it takes is one command (rebuild from config) to get each of my computer to use the latest config, no matter the amount of change. There's no need to make notes on how I install something, or create a bash script.
NixOS doesn't allow running dynamically linked binaries by design, and that occasionally gets in my way. Other than that, I don't miss anything from previous OSes I used (Debian on server, Arch on desktop).
+1 for jellyfin in 2024.
I had used plex long ago, but they slowly eroded all the best parts and made it so unusable in a bid to push their subscription model.
The final straw was when Plex removed mod support because it was building features they wanted to sell as a service.
Moved to JellyFin and it's great, all you need an external HD and any sort internet enabled device and you have your own netflix.
KASM Workspace thanks to @lowendtalkxdax recommendation.
And of course: ChatGPT
I switch back to Windows recently from Ubuntu desktop, but still use Ubuntu Desktop in my VM as guest on virtual box, more than 90% of work done with that. All my work environment Linux based. I am trying to get handy with ssh/RDP tools into Linux from Windows. Recently found mobaxterm, it supports ssh, scp and RDP as well with free and paid versions. I liked it over all, here one LET mentioned mRemoteNG. Is there more free GUI based tools exist before thinking of buying mobaxterm? I like tabbed interfaces, RDP, ssh next to each other, copy/paste between them. Right now installing and exploring mRemoteNG.
Sejda Desktop PDF is working amazing for me. Unfortunately it doesn't offer any BF/CM deals or lifetime. Free version offers 3 tasks (any operations eg. compress, sign, merge, split...etc) daily but if I need more I will purchase a 7day license.
I dont know why many ppl mention pdf software? Though chrome pdf reader is fine
Because I need to sign/fill on PDFs alot and PDF reader is not an editor. Also I would not want to use the web-based PDF editor although they're free for privacy reasons.
Chrome’s built-in PDF reader is indeed sufficient for basic needs like viewing, searching, and printing PDF documents. However, people often mention dedicated PDF software because they offer additional functionality, such as:
1. Editing.
2. Annotating
3. Filling Forms
4. Merging/Splitting
5. Conversion
6. OCR (Optical Character Recognition)
For advanced workflows, tools like Adobe Acrobat, Foxit Reader, or WPS PDF are preferred. Chrome suffices if your needs are minimal, though!

I still need to learn how to use coolify for Laravel and zero downtime deployments
NoMachine
Thank you @truemagic
Looks very promising.
No machine need a intermediate, is it not, like team viewer? @dev_vps . I am not sure whether it works over wireguard. But I will check. Thank you
no , it does not.
I'm using it over tailscale.
However, I'd love it if there was some option to sync my servers between devices. like realvnc does.
I don't think there is such way? @dev_vps do you know?
Throw'em all guys
I need to discover the jewels more. Lol
Use github for zero downtime deployment
Not to my knowledge
mobaxterm 👍🏻

Self hosted lobechat, connected to auth0 and cloudflare R2, very nice LLM interface with many models supported
Do you use for work or for your personal things?
