BTW, I am loving the RackNerd Ryzen VPS. Coming from older Intel Xeons, this is a definite upgrade for me. The core usage doesn't go above 1% most of the time. First time I am seeing that. Would recommend the Ryzens for anyone looking for some raw power.

I already have one.. in LA though.

Oh yah, the one you applied all your GA upgrades to. How's it?

4c, 5G at the moment. ITs good. .

That'd be a beast among VPSes now. You bought it last year right?

Its 3900x ryzen. If its 7950x , then it would be different.

Ok. 7950X is out of stock anyways. But, 3900X is pretty great as well. Wonder how the 9950X will perform.

9950x is just awesome. Seen some YABS in other threads. Those are insane

    Providers already started providing it?

Yup. Seen some in mega thread, and someone posting yabs as well.

Oh, I see. Waiting for RackNerd's 9950X VPSes!

You can buy a dedi then with all the credits. :D

Hell yeah, but, trying to be careful with it. I don't wanna go all crazy and then be left with no credits when it actually matters

true, easy to blow it all at once

I don't know, I don't like it somehow. But normal customers feels different may be. Once I used OpenCart, magenta etc for testing.. But somehow, woo feels heavy

It is heavy, but if you strip the front end and use it as backend things changes drastically. After the introduction of wpgraphql even I find myself tempted ๐Ÿ™‚

And you need to build a front end of site?

That's how it goes, build one in vue or react and you get one heck of a fast web shop.

In that case, we have lots of options.

    Both are Javascript derivatives right?

Frameworks in javascript.. like laravel, cakephp etc for php..

i've poked at laravel a bit. I like it

Yah, I believe I had a similar setup. Only that they decided to get me Win 98 with it, not even XP.

Why 98? I got it with XP. I used to format the system everymonth and reinstall the OS, to increase the PERFORMANCE.. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Yah, remember the time, we used to measure a PC's performance based on the number of times the XP loading bar moved before desktop loaded?

Oh yeah. I spent most of the time tuning the PC than using it. Funny days.. :p

Remember the application - SpeedumyPC and bviously, RAM Downloader?!!

Ha ha I remembered them all. And the flashy gif ads on websites with Download Ram ...

Missing downloading more RAM now. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

LOL! How many times have we been fooled by that.

Ha ha. Somehow I never fell for that though. I was mad for PCs at that time and read a lot about them. I've been reading about computers since 98 iirc, even though I don't have a computer. I love computers.

Not for the RAM Downloader. Oh no, never fell for that. But, I did fall for SpeedupmyPC.

    Those are sweet memories.

The only thing Windows still keeping from those days is the BSOD.

 And, the thing is they did virtually nothing to fix those BSODs. Instead what'd they do? Redesigned the BSOD page.

atleast its not the same BSOD anymore!

LOL! Youa re right. The new design makes it look less threatening and scary

BSOD is light heart attack anyway..

Oh yeah, especially when you have something important going on.

They happen only when we have important work.

Oh yes. Interestingly, similar amount of work doesn't cause a kernel panic on Linux.

    Linux kernel is solid..

Wish Windows learned something from Linux.

Thats what they get for doing it on their own. Still pretty good regardless. Linux has some open source benefit

That it does, but, Microsoft compensates for that benefit by having tons of money.

More competition .. let them come..

Yup. Let's hope more people will join soon.

I don't want more competition to my lappy

Unfortunately though, for you, you will have more competition. Remember, harder the battle, sweeter the victory.

And the prize really likes to draw in the competion as well! remember to breathe and relax when you take home that prize!

Exactly. Hope you do get the TV!

I need some advice on OpenWrt on my Netgear 7500v1

Ooooh, HMU on Discord and I got you. I can't maintain a proper conversation on that topic here with all the noise.

Go go go no openwrt for xpress

Ha ha. Already installed and running it. Just need some suggested config..

    Install transmission and do torrent

Had it on NAS. Removed after one drive died. Always felt the Transmission was the reason for my drive failrue in the wdcloud.

I doubt it was due to transmission, can be something else entirely hard to figure out....

Entirely possible depending on the amount of torrents running, they're extremely heavy in I/O operations. This is made worse by running it on a SOHO router.

Sad then. I killed my drive and data with my own hands. :(

Is the drive actually dead? Or just the controller in the USB enclosure?

Well, SMART showed errors, and then WD clodu showed drive error. And also if I put it in NAS bay, it is making some weird noises.

I removed it and runninig with only 1 drive now.

This most probably means an issue with the little hand like things that actually read the data on the platter. Sometimes, replacing them fix the issue, at other times, you might actually have to replace the BIOS chip and write the old data to this one.

Any tutorials or vids available abou this?

Can you remind me tomorrow. I faced this exact issue and foudn this information in a videos few years ago. Will try to get you that video. Regardless, please don't disassemble yourself. The platters are fragile and are better opened in a sterile room.

It sounds like the data is likely lsot and he wont be able to pay for the repair, rather pay for a new drive... at that point its worth the experiment to tryt o fix it i'd say

Yah, only in the case that it doesn't contain any super important information.

Wish Windows learned something from Linux.

Actually, they both have somethings they need to learn from each other..

Yah, but, Windows, for a paid OS has to learn more.

They dont have the same manpower. Linux lets them tap almsot anyone in the world

But, I think Microsoft has more manpower when comparing the core teams, right?

TrK recommended both Memcached and Redis, but did say Redis was better. Noticed a few ms difference for the better with Redis. That's why I decided to stick with Redis. Might notice a hell lotta difference after large data is populated.

It will be fine believe me ๐Ÿ™‚

Hope I don't run out of RAM

Just setup another server for redis you got enough to spend ๐Ÿ˜‰

Damn, didn't even think of that possibility. Maybe would do that, if I ever run out of RAM due to Redis.

If you run out of ram, they you are big.. think big at that time.. :p

    I was just speculating.

Yup. Just kidding though. We change plans if we grow usually.

Hope I get to that stage.

You will, with dedication.. we know how much dedicated you can be if you want..

Should I just use Redis Object Cache plugin for WordPress, or should I manually setup Redis for Wordpress?

try w3 total cache or litescache if on ols/litespeed webserver.

Nah, Took your recommendation and happy with Nginx now. Loving it infact. Went with the Redis Object Cache plugin. Just completed setting it up.

nginx is what i use. Redis as well. Good stack you have going there!

Yah, recently switched to Nginx on TrK's recommendation after having used only Apache and OLS for as long as I can remember.

Wish Windows learned something from Linux.

it did, WSL wasn't born from capitalistic mindsets

Was using WSL for quite some time. It was infact WSL that pushed me to install Linux as my primary OS.

yeah wsl is a really good intro. I can almost work completly in wsl and migrate over with ease

I started off with that recently. SOmehow it gave me the confidence to move everything over to Linux and completely dump Windows.

I follow same. Buy only whats necessary.

sometimes i get a little carried away and buy whats nessecary and little bit more
