Thank you! It was quite the undertaking, but I had a lot of fun doing it. If I still have the save file I'll get a screen recording from my Xbox.

Sure, do share it if you have it.

Found it, and it does function! I forgot I went back and switched from a complex solid state circuit to what is basically the Minecraft equivalent of, hm how do I explain, like a cylinder that is like an HDD but also like a punch card? You'll see in the video.

    Sure, waiting for it.

Hi @TrK -- Thank You! Having an amazing Christmas over here. Hope yours is just as awesome ❤️

well apart from lack of sleep it's pretty much good here as well... i hope you are with your family enjoying the day.

@TrK -- Plenty of time for sleep later, it's party time! That's the RackNerd way 😎 Hehehe.

The kiddos are having the best time opening gifts this morning, their excitement makes it all worth it ❤️ These moments are precious.

Oh yes. These are the rare moments in life that technology just can't capture.

I like to have them captured all on video.. Hence TBs of data. I want to give them all the childhood memories when they grow up <3

    That's a good dada.

    Dada?

    Dad, father, the same thing.

We will miss you while you are gone! Rest assured we'll tag you on any deals if they popup

Thanksa lot, dude. I guess there haven't been any GAs or deals since the first ones.

Yeah i havent seen any yet. I am hopng for a christmas day deal or something you never know when they may show up so we should always be ready for anything

Dustin might just wake up to 200 pages. Can't imagine the surprises that might bring.

Yeah hes going to have a rough time trying to find the double band width requests this time around. Hes gotta have some kind of system put together to find it. I suppose people can always send a direct message too after the 72 hours

Yah, there are always Firefox addons and stuff like that he could sue to filter them out. But, I have a feeling he does it manually.

Next year maybe, we will have a Strix in the pool.

If business is good, maybe I'll upgrade and offer up my used one next year in some kinda of raffle. Would be easier to get a used model through customs I imagine!

What if I shipped it all torn apart, and the winner had to assemble it? :p

Tearing apart laptop? worst nightmare. :'(

It's actually fairly easy to reassemble in most cases, unless you don't desolder anything.

I am bad at hardware soldered hardware.

Me as well. I try to stay away as much as possible, but recently I have taken an interest to it

    You soldered anything recently?

Yup, a router and my Android box.

Router? what did you solder in that?

UART. It helps you get shell access to any device that supports it.

Hehe, I think the last device I soldered to get uart was that little WD MyPassport Wireless device/thing they had

You all played with hardware it seems

Most devices are just little linux boxes and a lot have generic credentials (it's really sad). Worst case, with uart, you can usually see how to trigger recovery mode or trigger it within the console you get. It's fun playing with stuff :)

yep! this really shows to the flexibility of linux

Hi @BlazinDimes -- Love to hear that you're rocking some of our previous swag! The Northface backpack was definitely a hit. By the way, that 2007 Sony Bravia must be quite the performer to outshine a newer 4K ;)

    MacBook? Mac mini? 😂😂😂

Nope. Thats why I prefer a PC. Most developers I've seen like the MacBook pro though. I do like the looks of it. But non upgradability is meh for me.

It's upgradable if you get the right tools, right replacement chips and a sure fire way to temper with OS core....

I think someone who has to work to earn, and spending on MacBook to work, will not have that much time to put that effort. :p

Yah, I believe I had a similar setup. Only that they decided to get me Win 98 with it, not even XP.

Why 98? I got it with XP. I used to format the system everymonth and reinstall the OS, to increase the PERFORMANCE.. 🤣🤣

Yah, remember the time, we used to measure a PC's performance based on the number of times the XP loading bar moved before desktop loaded?

Oh yeah. I spent most of the time tuning the PC than using it. Funny days.. :p

Remember the application - SpeedumyPC and bviously, RAM Downloader?!!

Ha ha I remembered them all. And the flashy gif ads on websites with Download Ram ...

Missing downloading more RAM now. 🤣🤣

LOL! How many times have we been fooled by that.

Ha ha. Somehow I never fell for that though. I was mad for PCs at that time and read a lot about them. I've been reading about computers since 98 iirc, even though I don't have a computer. I love computers.

Not for the RAM Downloader. Oh no, never fell for that. But, I did fall for SpeedupmyPC.

    Those are sweet memories.

The only thing Windows still keeping from those days is the BSOD.

 And, the thing is they did virtually nothing to fix those BSODs. Instead what'd they do? Redesigned the BSOD page.

atleast its not the same BSOD anymore!

    Definitely not. 🤣

Maybe some CSK music will get you there.

Not a fan of IPL though. Basically stopped watching cricket after retirement of Dada. Fan of him since school.

Me too. Never been a fan of cricket my whole life (Yes, I was an anomaly among friends). But, still watched it for Sachin, Ganguly (Dada), Sehwag, Dravid, etc. and the gang. Since their retirement, I believe it has degraded.

I was a big fan of cricket as kid though. Used to play a lot. I had posters of Ganguly in my room. Everyday morning I woke up by looking at his poster.

And a pocket calender in my pocket with his pic.. those sweet memories..

Might have missed your reply. Did you also enter the RackNerd December GA I linked? A 75 inch TV to be won there as well.

I did! looks like the reply may have been missed. If I cant get it here, hopeful that i might be able to pick it up there. Who knows... if luck is on my side maybe i'll get 2 tvs! I do have more than 1 room in the house after all!

Awesome. TCL TVs have gotten better over time. Just make sure that you do research before you start using them though. Some of them have bad EMMCs. The solution is to never use the native Android/OS on them and instead use something like a Fire Stick.

I haven't yet played Minecraft, but, doesn't seem easy to make a functional clock. Kudos.

I made it a GIF, here she is.

Another test clock I setup with only 2 digits on the display, using a mix of solid state and non ss memory.

Oh, man, impressive is an understatement here. How many hours or days did it take to build?

    He is sleeping....

Yeah, we gotta find a way to keep the party going in his absence!

Oh hell no. When one hypeman leaves, there are many others who'd happily step up. That's the beauty of RackNerd threads.

yeah it seems like there is plenty of hype to go around here

Oh, one thing we almost never run out of, is hype.

Indeed! We astill havent had enough yet to hype the chef though :( Im not sure if im ready to throw in the towel yet on that happening though!

Oh yes, he's a man full of surprises. Might just jump in given there's adequate demand.

Yah, I believe I had a similar setup. Only that they decided to get me Win 98 with it, not even XP.

Why 98? I got it with XP. I used to format the system everymonth and reinstall the OS, to increase the PERFORMANCE.. 🤣🤣

windows 98 was the best so i support that choice! no hating

Yup 98 was most succesful iirc. XP later made windows the most stable OS at that time. and also the looks were modern for that time.

I think he is replying to all the old msgs.

Lol why, it just causes more confusion.

Exactly. It felt like two timelines happening at same time. .🤣🤣

    And it causes more confusion...

I was confused actually, took me few minutes to realize. :p

Lol and it took me your comment to realise this....

Dude so busy commenting, doesn't even have time to check his progress.

Perhaps he just lives in the moment. No time to concern with anything else becuase hes tunneled in on this thread in which he is currently lving the time of his life

Or, he just knows that he has to give it his all if he wants that laptop.
