  Yeah, my first time here I joined early November for a RackNerd thread and then got caught up in all the fun buying deals in the BF thread. I then stuck around to chat, and by the next year I felt like I was part of the family. That second year on have been even more fun because I'm enjoying the banter even more than the deals.

  They're giveaways that users are usually organizing, what's wrong with setting some requirements to ensure they're going to people who have contributed to the community for awhile?

  I agree, but if it's all for long-time participants, it's a bit unfortunate for those who have just joined.

  Next year you are part of those ,longe-time‘ - people and will benefit yourself. It’s a community effort and people who only join to grab those deals, are not really a part of it (yet) and it’s unknown if they will stay and contribute in any way.

  Of course, I get it. It feels like you're being left out.
  In my opinion it'd be worse for the community overall for the generosity of the users who are organizing some of these giveaways to go to a member who has just joined to grab some freebies or cheap stuff and has no intention of contributing back to the community in the long run.
  I'm not insinuating this is you, however it's a great way to filter out people who are just here for cheap stuff.

  As Default said, hang around until next year, be part of the community and you'll be eligible next year.
  It's why I'm not going for any of the giveaways this year. I'm as old as the furniture here but I haven't been around for ages so don't feel it'd be right for me to take freebies when I haven't been part of the community here for a long time.

  I agree, but if it's all for long-time participants, it's a bit unfortunate for those who have just joined.

  It is a bit unfortunate for some of these however the intention is sometimes to give back to those who already have given to LET

  I've also done plenty of giveaways in the past that were for anyone to grab - regardless of account requirements so I do implore you to stick around LET and pop by the thread every now and then and you never know, you may be on the receiving end of a nice little goodie one day
