that does not bypass customs
Oh. I get it. I have never used a screenreader before. So, pardon my ignorance. Would a grid-based OS such that dividing the whole layout into grids and then placing specific icons in those help in any way? Maybe a click on the specific grid, not necessarily on the icon could notify the user what he clicked on, what the icon is.
I am not expert. So, kindly forgive me if this is something that already exists or has been tried before.
And, you are right. It could be tough teaching children. But, it's also inspiring that physically challenged children are getting into computers and are interested in this stuff.
Nothing does. But, chances of Customs checking personal packages if not huge, are way lesser than just using a shipping service.

If you are a screen reader user, when on the desktop when arrowing around those icons, it would tell you. Like for example, you arrow around, and land on Google Chrome icon. The screen reader would tells you that Google Chrome. But it didn't tells what the icons of an app looks like, if you get what I mean. So basically, the screen reader does read the name of the icons on the desktop, but it doesn't tell you what the icon of Google Chrome looks like visually.
Oh pardon me. I was travelling when I typed this. I meant the PC I am currently using is the first one I assembled on my own. Owned pre-builts before. But, the first PC you build with your own hands is special.
Oh, I get it now. I guess something like that is what technologies like NeuraLink aim at bringing. Like, images could be sent to the brain. While the retina won't be able to visualise the image, the brain would have information on what an image or an object looks like. I get your point though. It's really difficult to let a physically challenged student know what an icon looks like just using words. I hope we soon have some technology, hopefully non-intrusive ones that could achieve this.
If you don't mind me asking, is your blindness congenital and incurable, or did it occur at a later stage. Again, please feel free not to answer, if it's too personal, and pardon me for asking.
What is the current config?
My blindness is congenital and it incurable. I only had one small eyeball in my right eye, and in my left eye had nothing at all.
Yeah, like I said earlier. Some people already wrote extensions to enhance the screen reader by taking advantage using Open AI's API, but the description result sometimes not very details. It's easier to have sighted people around at this point rather than relying entirely on AI.
