Would this be running an instance of code-server? it was a godsend when I only had a Android tablet to work on.
Yes, At that price point, I would expect Double Space, Double RAM & Double B/W
pm2 is a must for nodejs projects, makes life easy with managing my services.
Yes! A self hosted IDE (would use code-server)
Nice. I haven't used code-server in a while I should setup another instance and start using it again.
We aren't that large and as the post said we own all our hardware at our current scale this is the best price we can offer.
If you purchase a LTO or Value plan, we are willing to double the bandwidth, storage, and add 1GB RAM if you share your invoice number. For Ryzen plans, we will double the bandwidth and storage.
HostScams
I am learning server management, so yes, a free vps will help a lot.
Hi, I would use my VPS for univ project and personal website. thanks
True that.
I have a couple code server instances setup.
They just work flawlessly.
Just that I haven't figured out a way to auto sync my stuff should one server go down. Just a hassle to get the environment setup (not the code, ofcourse it's on git), the settings according to my likings
nicee
Use rsync or syncthing. Should be fairly easy to configure
Hmm. So, would you know how it works when I am editing a file and rsync is running on the background? Will it pause and wait before syncing?
I know the settings will not change that often but in general wanna understand
syncthing works like that. For rsync you can combine it with inotify which will trigger rsync if it detects any changes in the specified directory or file to sync it.
Idling
Interesting.
On a slightly related note, I am trying to setup some redundant backup policy...
So I have server 1, 2 and 3. Data is sent to server 1 from different sources. How to sync it continuously between server 1, 2 , 3 where for eg server 1 and 2 are being synced and server 2 sends that to server 3.
Not sure if I am saying it correctly...
Syncthing covers that. I have a setup with around 15 mail servers with failover and load balancing. The mails are synced instantly among all the servers. Any of these servers can act as a source. End result all the servers have exact replica of the mail folders.
Will check it out. Thank you
We recently acquired a server at $17/year price point from another provider that has offers in Michigan.
AS399804
This provider is pale in comparison.
Thanks for your input. Your issue with the deal is the storage?
i'd be running a minecraft server on it thanks
is that some sort of deal? all I can find are 20 GB for $20 a year
They have longer history than you and they are offering better dealz at $17/year price point.
1C 1G 15G is worth $6~12/year, this time of the year.
It's not in their post but it's still publicly available on their website.
Their website is what I checked.
They are also larger. Economies at scale impact hosting, too.
Console screenshot:
The dealz comparable to your is $12/year but in limited quantities and sold out rapidly.
then your comparison is irrelevant.
YABS and then idling
Would let the vps idle like a lowend pro
