Because they want to get stuff done before the new year. Never fails at my work. I swear from Thanksgiving to New years, there's more changes/people trying to push things to prod through than any other random two months of the year. And 99% of the things aren't urgent/critical or to meet a deadline.

  • Loving Lubuntu as my daily driver. Hope this continues.

    hi @dustinc ,
Hope something will be done about the botting/scalping problem for the next sale.
Wasnt able to grab anything this year; no surprises now as it was all getting scalped :(
And it's an unofficial transfer that is being done, bypassing the $8 fee.

    https://www.nodeseek.com/post-222022-1

Hi @sh97 -- I know the frustration is real when the flash deals are hard to get, and based on our popularity they do go quite fast. Especially when shared between private telegram affiliate controlled groups and the traffic we get from the communities, and/or even our own telegram group for the Asian community. It's difficult for us to control scalping, though we implement the $8 service transfer fee in hopes to discourage it, but to also compensate for our time when it's done. All in all, the good news is that any of our flash deals are monitored to ensure they're not bot sniped, we cancel out unpaid orders, verify payments are legitimate, etc. And if we notice something like that we'll be sure to give additional opportunity, and/or get creative.

    I wish I got a mug 🍺

That is a diffrent type of mug, I want both :P

Yeah, it's their new coffee mug that I won from a giveaway! I know they also have a traveler mug which I'm hoping there's a giveaway and I also win! :)

    https://my.racknerd.com/index.php?rp=/store/racknerd-merchandise

Though, I wouldn't be mad if there's a backpack giveaway and I also win one!

The traveler mug's are also neat, for when on the go. Though my daily go-to is definitely the coffee mug :)

Man, Docker is a bit to get started with, but, very useful it seems. Was planning on installing a LEMP server as an alternative to XAMPP, which was my go to on Windows. But, decided to give Docker a try, to help isolate things. After a lot of trial and error, got a LEMP server running on an Ubuntu Docker container. I know that I could get these packages separately (PHP, MySQL, etc.) as Docker images. But, I wanted to try it out like this. Next up, might try to get it working on Alpine.

Hi @noob404 -- Docker is indeed powerful, and extremely useful! Great job on getting that LEMP stack up and running. The learning curve can be a bit steep at first, but as you've discovered, it's worth pushing through :)

Yes, it is. That brings me to a question for RackNerd. If I were to move to a better RN configuration in the future, can I just rsync from the old VPS to the new one, excepting the network settings to avoid going through the setup again? Or, will I have to start afresh?

Hi @noob404 -- That is essentially correct. When exclusion lists are properly set up, it should exclude the network related files/settings, and migrate everything else that should be migrated.

We have a detailed guide here including a recommended exclusion list:

    https://blog.racknerd.com/how-to-migrate-from-old-vps-to-new-vps-using-rsync-migrating-a-linux-vps/

We also have a video demonstration on it here:

    Hope this helps :)

It depends, if you like idlers then yes, if you are a hoarder like me then a big yes.

I'd say I'm a bit of both so guess I am buying another haha.

Ahh dang, they don't have any IPv6 locations available. Hopefully they will restock.

I guess LA has ipv6, @dustinc can confirm.

LA DC2 and France have native IPv6, can confirm as I have VPS in both those locations.

    That is correct :)
