if I see a windows tag here I'm going to take a loan, buy LET & shut it down

I have tried so much to distance away from windows but it's just sooo hard. Most of the time when I type commands on Linux I keep forgetting the syntax :s

    euw

Shud I take the plunge and just install Ubuntu on my laptop, does php storm work and Microsoft office work on Ubuntu right out of the box?

A new version of Office won't. Office 365 is fine INA browser.
Maybe try a VM first, or try out WSL2 on your windows machine.

See that's the thing. I have been running Linux on the side for almost 2 decade as vps, virtual instances, etc. But on multiple occasions when I have chosen to install it as primary os on my laptop I have regretted it.

It depends on what you need. People forget that computers, etc, are all tools to get shit done. There are crazy zealots out there who'll die on their own hills. Find your flow, choose your tools, get shit done. Anything else is noise.

I am under the false impression that I can take on a cheetah. Hear me out though, cheetahs are small light creatures compared to Tigers and lions. I kinda know I'm a bit dillusional in saying that but if I had a baseball bat I cud technically hit it into oblivion if it attacked ๐Ÿค”

Yes but I have realized after so many years that had I been using Linux as my main desktop os I wud be living killing devops machine on the side by now. But these days when I know that thing A can be done using service B in Linux I still have to look for syntax and what not. Something similar comes automatically to me in windows, clearly a side effect of using something for 25 odd years.

It all depends on the starting distance, and if you are actually allowed to use weapons and if morals are off or not.
But technically you wouldn't even realise you are being approached on that speed.
