if I see a windows tag here I'm going to take a loan, buy LET & shut it down

I have tried so much to distance away from windows but it's just sooo hard. Most of the time when I type commands on Linux I keep forgetting the syntax :s

@dev_vps needs a tag, Windows Advocate

As much as I dislike consumer windows these days, powershell is really cool. I have a great fondness for it from the good ole days.

Windows Server “gui-less” edition is fully driven by powershell script.

At my work, we use powershell scripting to query other Servers for reporting purposes

Back in my sysadmin days, bunch of the guys from a different branch thought they would lock us out of proper Exchange and AD admin roles. But, they left PS remoting on, and configured poorly. I realised this, and gave us all proper admin privileges back. Then made a bunch of scripts to speed up onboarding new users (as we had no personnel budget), and trained some non-technical people to run them. Powershell was fucking amazing.

We use powershell for creating SQL Server reports on the fly.

  • Need proof of how successful Linux is? Take a look at its long-time arch-rival, Microsoft . The company who famously tried to ‘extinguish’ the project in the late 90s and early 00s now leverages Linux in its server business. It even contributes to kernel development!

  • Following a rejig of its development and release schedules, a new version of the Linux kernel is now released every 66 days or so, with new point releases appearing regularly in-between.

  • There's a frog that can fly. Yes really! The Wallace's flying frog - one of the weirdest frogs in the world - glides using its huge webbed feet, which enable it to control its descent and even steer in mid-air.
