@Frosby This was on my YouTube feed today -

    Damn chrome tracking.

Use Firefox without any privacy addons. Maybe time to add those as well.

We don't know how they even tracking. Some times we get product recommendations or news recommendations when we discuss things at home. I think may be its my echo.

I have had the same experience. Musk once mentioned the new AirPods (unreleased, Ig) had the capability to read brain signals - https://www.letemsvetemapplem.eu/en/2024/08/19/elon-musk-rekl-ze-airpods-jsou-nejnebezpecnejsi-produkt-na-svete-akorat-ze-vubec/

It's scary why my phone could be doing, when even smaller AirPods are capable of that.

Just had some experience few hours back. Me and my wife were discussing about our weights. 5 minutes later a notification came on my wife's mobile about some news article for weight loss. :D

This is, to say the very least, scary!

Obviously. These experiences are getting frequent. Have to turnoff some devices and test this.

I don't think anything will work. We are surrounded by Chinese made smartphones. Until or unless someone's ready to make a very deep dive into these devices, we will never know for sure.

The reason i run own adguard DNS server is to block almost all the analytics and telemetry services from the devices i own, on the run i am the DNS over TLS running on my devices if not connected to a VPN service(again on one of my servers), I am thinking of adding another server with 3500x(got spare), GA A520m K, 32GB ECC DDR4, 1-2TB nvme and 2x 2-4TB HDD in RAID10, for bunch of containers and services, i will be relying on using CF tunnel and tailscale. The 3500x will be throttled at 45w max with full load and i might use an old gt720 low profile for occasional checkups requiring a display output.

Well, this may soon have to become the norm. I might have to run OpenWRT on a secondary router and set up Adguard and other packages helping block unwanted elements soon. This problem has become so widespread now. At one point, it was sporadic. But, right now, everyone's got so used to it, that they think it's normal for devices around them snooping on their conversation, or maybe possibly, even read their brain waves.

I would suggest you to get a raspberry Pi zero and run your DNS from there, setup your router to use the endpoint. If using adguard or technitium use unbound as the resolver instead of querying google and such.

Yah, was planning to do something like that, but, with OpenWrt, Ig, it'd be better if I just get a powerful router or the board you mentioned and set it up from there.

If you are able to get nanopi r5s you can dump the technitium or adguard on a docker container along with openwrt there, if not just getting a raspberry Pi zero will do fine with your existing router.

I find Nano Pi more interesting. Might just get that.

Yeah sure it is, there are few sellers in India, you can look at them they might have the r5s with them in stock.

Let's see. If they don't I guess AE is the last resort

Instead of AE I would go with robu of can't find it on robu, I would have someone bring it with them for me.

Had heard of em around a year back or so when they were doing pre booking, imo it's costly and the community support is non-existent I can get myself an overall better pi board with all the case and addons available from friendlyelec nanopi, they couldn't convince many like me, although I do support the praho nuc as it's a better in many ways including their competitive pricing and better execution overall.

    Running this at home 24x7?

Yeah it will run 24x7 unless something fails or power gets disconnected for more than 4 hours. My ups will be able to power this continuously for like 4 hours or something, or i might need a spare inverter for the homelab alone.

Thats an impressive UPS. What is that? Inverter is the best option though, it powers the whole house along with gadgets..

It's a UPS 2KVA UPS from vertiv albeit a little costly but it does it's job pretty good. Although inverter is good if used in ups mode and it should be atleast 1.5kva if you are going to use it for entire home and homelab.

I have APC 2200 UPS. It worked for an year, and then after warranty it died on my face. Didn't try to replace batteries.

We have inverter though, it is a must for our areas, as we have large frequent powercuts.

What are you trying to build @noob404 ? Lots of the Raspberry Pi boards work well as servers when booting them off a USB hard drive. Micro SD cards are not very good for servers as they tend to need to be replaced often.

    60ML Chivas + 90ML RedBull + 100ML Water works great...

I had predicted your formula earlier. But, it was coffee instead of water.

What blasphemous, no one mixes whisky with coffee, well rum might go with it though.

Once you are drunk, every cocktail is fair.

Says the guy who don't drink alcohol. :p ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ

 Correction - The guy who has seen his friends indulge in every kinda tomfoolery once they are drunk.

Ha ha. Thats true. For first round everyone have preferences about brands. After 2 rounds they drink whatever they find. ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

Exactly, I guess we have simialr friend groups

This is common in every group I think. :D

    Think so. That's universal.

You never tasted anything alcoholic? even breezer?

No, I am not denying that. But, I am not into alcohol.

    Interesting.

Been researching good boards for the past few weeks. Nothing is beyond Father Google's vision.

Have you tried tinkering with Pi or similar devices?

Not yet. But, had some experience with ARM devices with an Android box that I had lying around. OpenWrt on it got me interested in this stuff.

What are you trying to build @noob404 ? Lots of the Raspberry Pi boards work well as servers when booting them off a USB hard drive. Micro SD cards are not very good for servers as they tend to need to be replaced often.

Hey, we were just discussing how Google and its elusive telemetry trackers are around us everywhere. So, I was planning to get a good micro board like the Pi or as TrK recommended the Nano Pi R5S, to install OpenWrt on it and route all connections through it with Adguard DNS and other anti-tracking packages installed.

Would love to have your opinion and input as well.
