Meanwhile I had a look at @Clouvider VPS pricing. Sadly it's more expensive, even with the 50% rebate, than my @InceptionHosting VPS which, granted, was a promo.

You get newer hardware with @Clouvider at least :)

I also lost a promo plan with Inception :(

It’s a shame. I have 2 servers there that have been running nicely, Now I have to re home them.

I already have 1 at clouvider.

  • Loved inception.. Was a great provider.

@Clouvider Didn't you have an LA location available (I think I saw it on YABS)? I can't seem to find it on your location selector.

Give LA a few days please, there’s additional hardware we are turning up in this location in the coming days. We put it out of stock for now to maintain quality.

Awesome! Can you share what kind of CPUs can we expect for the LA location? And can you also share what kind of performance we can expect? And, could you also share AUP information regarding CPU/network usage?

Got a new server in Frankfurt EPYC at Clouvider. Gotta admit that I'm a little bit disappointed that the EPYC is around 20% lower in Geekbench than my InceptionHosting E-2278G.. Network ist top notch.. didn't expect anything else.

  • DA license able to transfer over or is that the end of it?

    Good question :-)

  • Currently don't have anything with them -- but have appreciated their services in the past, and the great deals on BF!

  • @Clouvider how do the refunds work if you are due one as my VPS is paid up way after 15th Jan 25.

  • @Clouvider
Sorry for the question, but port 25 is available on the VPS? if blocked, it can be request to unblock? rDNS settings available for the IP addresses? Thx for the answer!

    @Clouvider Hi sir

No updated yet, we are a bit backlogged with Hypervisor installs, LA is getting there in the queue.

happy to help at https://clouvider.com/vps - you've been running on our network (and hardware) for quite some time ;).

We'll process automatically; billing is currently calculating it and we'll process them all in one batch back to the original payment method. Where not possible, tickets will be raise to obtain instructions.

We are doing exception from our standard rule around port 25 for Inception Hosting Customers migrating to us, as long as they had no spam issues with Inception. Just raise a ticket after the service is active, entire team is aware of the policy.

PTR records configurable through the portal for IPv4 - no PTR records available for IPv6 at the moment (work in progress).

  • Just saw the email and feel sad but there is an upside of better newer hardware. @Clouvider Would we get directadmin license as was offered by Inception hosting vps ?

  • It's a bit of a shame that Clouvider doesn't seem to be willing to offer some kind of gesture towards traffic compared to the Inception offers; even with the 50% off, the price of a 1 CPU VPS is about the same as I paid for a 2 CPU one with Inception; and the latter had 2 times as much traffic.

I'm testing now what the 1 CPU VPS with Clouvider does in comparison to the Inception one, but I'm gonna miss the traffic space that I had (not that I used it every month). I can understand where Clouvider is coming from and traffic has its cost, but the BF deal of Clouvider also had a 50% (non recurring, I know) off, but with double traffic. So it can be done IMHO...

This is not possible - I have already checked this. It is disappointing, but understandable, particularly as DirectAdmin consider the licences legacy and they don't really have a future.

  • Which provider has DirectAdmin Lifetime License similar to Inception?

What packages did people have ?

    I had this one: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/182739/inception-hosting-black-friday-offer-thread-more-than-50-off-extra-disk-and-bandwidth/p1

Was pretty epic deal with 50GB disk and 18TB bandwidth for €25/year.

I liked it as it had 0.5ms ping to my Oracle Ampere instances, so I planned to use it as the front-end for them, but never actually got round to it. So fairly annoyed that I just idled 2 instances for 2 years, and then just as I was about to use them they're being terminated.

The replacement offer is 50% off any VPS, but even the cheapest still works out more expensive for much less bandwidth.

Yeah, that is/was one that I had also. Didn't need the 50G, but the 2 core/2G was right what I need for most of my VPSes and the 18T was unable to resist (although I never used that, but it's great to have headroom).

Another one I have/had was similar configuration, but with 30G disk and 6T bandwidth.

Similar, I upgraded my 2G last year to: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/190337/inception-hosting-black-friday-sale-75-off-no-clickbait/p1

Still, with the voucher code from Clouvider I can get something similar, hopefully with the same level of reliability, sadly I'll have to pay sales tax on top of that now.

Did the DA licences have limits or Unlimited domains ?

  • @xHosts said:

It was ‘classic’ DA with zero limits and none of the new pro features.
