Me, I didn't even learn after that. You must have a pretty strong internet connection to be able to F5 that hard. What's the speed like?

Around 25mbps. I'm waiting until the page loads to refresh again.

If I had fibre I'd get me alteast 100mbps, how much do you pay for 25mbps?

Under $7-8/month is the going rate in my area for 50Mbps unlimited fibre.

Lily: Thanks for your query. Yes, prices are recurring and you will be able to renew in subsequent billing cycles at the same rate.

They were very fast and professional.

Hi @samj -- I can confirm this is correct :)

Also glad to hear that you received quick and professional support. We take pride in our rapid response times, and we'll continue to deliver the best level of service possible. :)

Welcome to the RackNerd merch gang!

Racknerd @dustinc is A+++ for customer service.

How many providers will respond to multiple different iso load requests in the same day?
Racknerd did it every time without asking any question

Hi @dev_vps -- Really appreciate you sharing this feedback! Happy to hear that you've had a positive experience with our support team :) Each team member of ours is truly passionate about what they do, and happy to help. Actually, this reminded me that not too long ago, I did an interview on LEB discussing more about our operations, and how we handle support: https://lowendbox.com/blog/interview-with-racknerd-ceo-dustin-cisneros-the-importance-of-human-interaction-in-customer-service/

While we aren't perfect, we truly believe in maintaining that good old human touch with our customers! As I'm sure you all can agree, nothing beats real human interaction, especially in today's age of AI and automation. We've found that our customers appreciate being able to reach out and get help from a real person who understands their needs :)

Thank You for the continued trust and business with RackNerd โค๏ธ

NOTICE / FYI (esp. for new members)

Like every year, there will be a voting thread for the top providers of the year. I believe it's usually scheduled for January every year. Many people have shared their positive experience with RackNerd, esp. the support. If you did have a positive experience and want the rest of the community to know about it, please do not forget to vote on the thread. If that's not incentive, the thread also features Giveaways by lottery. Last year, there was Steam Deck, Switch, etc.

Hi @noob404 -- Love this, thank you for the tips, and for always helping out the community :)

By the way, we've been quite fortunate to receive so much positive feedback from our valued customers. It's really rewarding to see the impact we've made, and we'll continue working hard to earn and maintain your trust.

Thanks for looking into it. But frankly, I guess your support guy was just a bit anal, maybe some sakkuridy scanner gave an alarm and he wanted to be 100% sure. Not really a big thing and he was very polite. If anything, you might want to tell him a bit about how to recognize and discern a pro from some mom getting a VPS for her son grin
In other words, I didn't ask him for advice but for downloading and installing a bloody BSD ISO and mounting it.
Whatever, again, he was very polite and diligent and even relatively fast for a day I guess was quite busy.
What you, however, really should improve is your VNC situation, in particular wrt speed (needs not be fast but should really not be snail slow) and wrt keyboard layouts. Having to work with an alien keyboard layout is a quite reliable way to get customers frustrated ...

Re the rest, I really like (a lot) that you offer an explicit "one off" PayPal option, am largely happy with the "panel behind the panel" (but think that you should integrate it better. Having to look for a separate login and pw feels a bit crude).

Also, and most importantly I'm constantly having an eye on my benchmark running on the new RN VM - and so far like what I see. A lot (modulo maybe connectivity. It seems that many targets are not reachable, but that may be my fault in part too. I'll try to get a better target set). The CPU and mem. is very nice it seems, for an E5 v4 and the disk seems to be a fast one too). Just a quick question: are the VPS's disks in any way redundant/RAIDed?

TL;DR: Besides an early hiccup I'm quite happy so far. Benchmark & review will come in a few days.

Hi @jsg -- Got it on the VNC concerns, I created a test VPS in Dublin earlier today and played around in VNC for a bit, and wasn't able to replicate any slowness (even when I'm accessing from LA). We actually just use the standard SolusVM/VNC implementation without any modifications, so in theory the experience should be similar to other hosts you've used in the past that also run SolusVM. Our SolusVM install is pretty much "stock" to keep things running as recommended by the software vendor, and as such we don't really have any frontend related modifications other than a few text/language file changes (all unrelated to VNC).

Anyhow, I know you're already past that point now with the OS installed and running, but if you run into any other issues just let me know.

By the way, regarding your last question - yes, our VPS host nodes run 8x SSD's in Hardware RAID-10, so they are indeed redundant :)

Really appreciate the detailed feedback about your experience so far. And you're right about that support interaction - I'll make sure to pass along some guidance in our weekly support team meeting tomorrow :)

I'd just like to add that I am yet to face these issues noticed by the other member. I was briefly on a CGNAT connection for a few months this year, when using a 3rd party SSH client was a headache for me, with constant loop disconnections. During that time, I was unable to use Putty, regardless of any changes I made to strengthen it. Checking a few online forums, I learned that it was a known issue with some ISPs using Double CGNAT. I then had to use the HTML VNC on the Control panel. I never faced any slowdowns as such during a few weeks of usage.
But, if I were to add a suggestion, maybe a Proxmox style terminal, with support for copy and paste would be good to have, if SolusVM does allow for that without compromising software integrity. Rest, I have been using CMD, Putty and Terminal for quite some time now, without any issues. Maybe, it's a on-off problem that jsg is facing.

Hi @noob404 -- Thank You for the feedback, and for sharing your experience. For what it's worth, SolusVM does have a copy/paste feature with the HTML5 VNC console - there's a "paste clipboard" button on the top right that can be used, but this must be accessed via SolusVM directly, not via our WHMCS/client area integration.

Like others mentioned earlier, VNC is rarely used on a day-to-day basis anyway - it's mainly there for those emergency situations like when you need OS installation access, or if you've accidentally locked yourself out via SSH/firewall rules. For regular server management, SSH is definitely the way to go.
