@jar I think I asked you last year about crypto payment processor. Did anything change meantime, do you offer it now by any chance?

@jar I saw someone post this in another thread, but is it possible to have emails that are addressed to specific subdomain (like twinkletoes.mydomain.com) automatically redirected to a specific inbox (like [email protected] or [email protected]) or autoflagged as spam?

The first part just sounds like a forwarder. You can add a subdomain in the same way that you would add a domain itself in DirectAdmin, then create forwarders as desired. There are also domain aliases that could be a similar interest: https://mxroutedocs.com/directadmin/domainalias/

As for auto flagging as spam, Maybe a sieve filter that says something like "If TO contains [email protected] THEN move to spam folder" would do the trick. Sieve filters can be configured in our Roundcube instances under Settings > Filters, or over port 4190 with external software.

I'm afraid I called it quits on that one. I really don't like the state of crypto gateways right now.

  • @jar does MXroute support API calls to add email forwards? I add/remove email manually for offering free pass to students, every week, I have to manualy add and remove the forwards. One or two emails forwarded, thats it per batch.

Yes, if you have the domain setup..

    Hey friends!

    ...
Very recent customer here. Inevitable hiccups with because of my unorthodox set-up that I am still tuning but Jarland was helpful on Discord.

Trying to set up a clustered (for resiliency) email server with exim and dovecot (and gmail vacuuming the emails with pop3s) for my private domain (using mxroute only for sending emails because I could never get enough reputation to send out emails before (just 4 users in my immediate family).

Also, could not use mxroute hosting because I want to have automated expiring emails and trusted senders which require custom processing in exim.

Still working on the kinks on my set-up (have not yet put it in production on my read domains) but as an outbound solution mxroute lifetime-5g works very well for me.

    My 2 cents.

I once tried to add/delete email accounts via DirectAdmin API. I believe it might work too for other actions.

Absolutely. The DirectAdmin API is not very well documented but for that purpose it’s extremely capable.

While I’m not going to advertise it as such, Crossbox (mail.mxlogin.com has its own file storage, and also will install an outdated copy of Nextcloud under your account if you’d like. No idea when they’re going to update that.

So far my favourite parts, one of them being from the 'welcome' email..

READ EVERY. SINGLE. PART. OF. THIS. EMAIL.
    PLEASE, WE BEG YOU.

    and

    MIGHT CONTAIN!
MIGHT CONTAIN! MIGHT CONTAIN! >THOSE TWO WORDS ARE EXCESSIVELY VITAL! PLEASE DO NOT GLOSS OVER THIS PAGE, SCROLL BACK UP AND ACTUALLY READ THE TEXT ABOVE. ALL OF IT!

    :)

Did you read EVERY SINGLE WORD above? No? THEN DO NOT CONTINUE.

So I know they really point out where the important pieces of information are contained, make it easier to skim the documentation..

However as a suggestion, add a page on how to create aliases.. Creating a domain alias was easy to find, but an address alias, I looked for way too long.

For other new users... I've noticed sometimes when logging into DirectAdmin everything is blank, especially Accounts.. Started panicking when I logged in after setting a domain live and migrating all existing emails to mxroute.. Changed pages/sections a bunch of times, reloaded the pages a few times, eventually everything appeared.

@jar please give us a way to upload and download a CSV file for creating accounts and distribution lists, maybe even domains..

    Can be two things:

DA has been doing this weird thing where sometimes it doesn’t load content and the service has to be restarted. The whole time it responds to HTTP requests as though it’s working. It’s annoying because I want to alert their support but there are no errors logged, it only happens in prod. I can’t know when it’ll happen or on what server. I also can’t leave it like that for anyone to take a look. I’m collecting data though and intend on figuring it out.

The other thing, if you have just an absolute ton of email accounts on a domain it can take a while to load. Once it loads it should be cached. But it checks usage on page load there by default and then I’ve got it caching the result. That almost no one else does this makes me think it’s the cause of the former.

None of this particularly acceptable but thankfully the experience of an extreme minority while I work on improving it all.

Roger that on the requests 💜

No.. Two domains and two accounts. It took the original default account and changed it to the first domain I added too..

Hopefully it is doing weird things because you have a lot of new customers all adding accounts, that it won't happen again.. Hoping anyways.

Edit: Just logged in once more and back to only 1 (non-production) email account.. The one I have in production is not showing...

Do you want me to open a ticket about it?

@jar I can't find any information in the docs but is API use permitted? Maybe on request? The use case is it to generate aliases on the fly for use with specific services e.g. [email protected].

Using the API makes it easy to use w/o logging in. This is honestly the main reason I'm still with Purelymail (https://news.purelymail.com/api/index.html).

Yes you can use the DirectAdmin API. They're working on a new one too. https://docs.directadmin.com/developer/api/

It’ll likely change but the customers will likely find it shocking so I haven’t done it yet. I generally hold MXroute senders to a higher standard than these people appear to have been held to (unless they saw the ownership change and just went stupid).

I suspect it will be updated over time, but things like SPF records, etc. can complicate matters.
