What's New & Exciting
We're working on some cool stuff right now that I'd love to tell you about:
1. IP Blacklisting is Dead
We've moved to a smarter system called "susranges." Instead of blanket blocking IPs, we now refuse email from suspicious ranges unless it's authenticated or whitelisted. This means legitimate mail servers in otherwise problematic networks (like Comcast) get through, while spam gets blocked. Win-win-win - no negative impact for users or legit mail servers in those ranges, and typically no more spam. This effort has roughly the same amount of false positives as every other anti-spam effort we've taken over the years, only this plan is designed to reduce the false positives without reducing the spam filtering, a very important change from previous efforts.
2. Smarter Spam Fighting
We've deployed Exim ACLs to catch spam trends early in SMTP connections. With our whitelist system, we can now block hundreds of thousands of spam attempts monthly while ensuring legitimate emails get through. No more sacrificing individual cases for "the greater good" - everyone wins!
3. UX Improvements
Check out our new DNS page in DirectAdmin on the Glacier server (other servers coming soon) - we've finally made something that was ugly... well, less ugly! Example Screenshot
4. Faster Compromise Recovery
When your password got compromised in the past, you'd be stuck waiting for us to respond before getting back into your email account. Not anymore! We've automated the recovery process and added proper notification handling for resellers. Now you can get back to business faster when things go wrong.
Looking Forward to 2025
Our goals are simple: better customer experience, streamlined workflows, cleaner interfaces, and the best spam filtering around. And this isn't just talk - we're already seeing success with these improvements right now. If you've ever thought of MXroute as the clunky choice, keep an eye on us this next year (and every day leading up to it - we're not waiting for January)!
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I upgrade to one of these promotions?
Yes, but you'll need to handle the migration yourself. We're kind enough to let you do it, but to be sustainable, we don't help with promotional migrations.
What's that "Hostname" field on the order form?
It's just the initial domain used to set up your account in DirectAdmin. Feel free to use a fake one - just make it obviously fake like thisisntarealdomain.pw.
How do your sending limits work?
Each email account gets 300 outbound emails per hour. While you can create different email accounts for different purposes, don't try to game the system by creating multiple accounts (like sender1, sender2, etc.) to bypass the 300/hour limit.
What if you die tomorrow?
What's with everyone wanting me to contemplate my mortality? Look, while I won't claim our succession plan is perfect, we're not a one-man show anymore. If something happens to me, MXroute will be taken care of.
Can you create a custom promo that fits my needs?
Maybe another time. But if you're hoping for those $5/year deals - those are gone for good. The fees were brutal. The $15 for 3 years is the only way that'll ever come back.
Can I send transactional email?
Absolutely! That's what most of our customers do anyway. Go for it.
Can I send marketing email?
No.
But what if my marketing is...
Still no.

ah yeasssh! page one
For everyone that's been asking for $7/year - COUGH IT UP!
PROMO CODE: 5DOLLARSISNOTENOUGH
On a serious note: @jar is awesome and easily competes with the big boys of email. Been a happy and loyal customer for 5+ years now!
nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your DNS records overhaul is impressive. It is the number 1 topic that people come to me with questions about, and your approach would essentially eliminate that extra confusion.
Hope you make phat $tacks.
Using as mail relay is still tolerated?
As long as you do it right and don’t cause any problems. I won’t advertise this because most people can’t do it right. For example: I prefer that you don’t use email forwarders from your own inbound server with zero spam filtering, no SRS, etc.
Do you accept crypto payments?
I’m afraid not anymore. I’ve had enough of crypto payment gateways for a lifetime.
Order it now.
Is NextCloud available?
How can customers prevent this? Have stronger passwords?
I would order if server in EU could be guaranteed, I heard you are relocating into the US.
Good question. Back in the day I was on a EU server. Now it seems to be located in the US. Would love to keep the EU location.
Did not really expect this deal to come back
.
I'm using Purelymail personally since I use their custom API but this deal seem too good to pass up. You might have another customer!
I can't speak highly enough of MXroute, absolutely incredible service for an insane price. Looking forward to the coming improvements, 2025 is going to be a big year for you guys, I can tell.
Just the version you can install with Crossbox.
Pretty much that and don’t fall for phishing scams, don’t download viruses. But stuff happens, and now it’s less inconvenience for you when it does.
@jar I have been using your small plan since 2020. My account was to renew on 11/27/2024, so I paid on 11/20/2024. Can I upgrade to your new small plan? I can pay the balance of $10.
Small - $15 / 3 years
You are more than welcome to but it’ll be a manual migration on your part similar to moving between providers. It won’t be an upgrade directly, you’d purchase the new plan and cancel the old when you finished moving things.
Is your outgoing mails network public? Like the IPs and subnets used. Is it maintained by you or do you use any other relay services for outbound?
How does that work? Any docs on migration?
@jar I can't find any information in the docs but is API use permitted? Maybe on request? The use case is it to generate aliases on the fly for use with specific services e.g. [email protected].
Using the API makes it easy to use w/o logging in. This is honestly the main reason I'm still with Purelymail (https://news.purelymail.com/api/index.html).
Right now 136.175.108.0/24 handles pretty much everything. If after trying from multiple IPs in that range there is any question as to whether or not it could be a reputation issue, we fall back to mail.baby. Though frankly it’s virtually never a reputation issue but sometimes you want to fall back to prove it. We have that whole /22 to expand into.
Lmao
Like it would if you were moving to a new mail provider. Change DNS, create emails, etc. Imapsync if you need to move email contents: https://mxroutedocs.com/general/migrate/
Whatchu doing out of the BF thread boiii??
I like this year's page design because it's cool, but I also enjoyed the reviews from Spammer 1–3 last year

Finally it comes. Long live the mxroute!
Yes you can use the DirectAdmin API. They're working on a new one too. https://docs.directadmin.com/developer/api/
