But how do I build a portfolio with that kind of stuff?

Document the homelab, the decisions you made, what you learned, why you went with what you did, write out a DRP, most of it would show up via some sort of writing, you cant really show off SysAdmin as simple as a software dev would show off a project.

Here's an example a tech company hires a CEO and pay him the most in company for not being a developer but being good in management.

Here's an example a tech company hires a CEO and pay him the most in company for not being a developer but being good in management.
