Okay peeps, i have one $7 and one $6(ryzen) under my card and some cc debt(increased due to black Friday).

    When was this bought?

yesterday night, in the mega thread, was frantic though.

oh the heartbeat one, whats the second deal?

    Datidea the second one.

What were the specs of that one?

    Same just Ryzen and $6.

Both sweet deals man, good catch!

Yah. But, what do people do with all the great deals they get during BF?

The Flash Deal for the 4GB vps is now my main vps, and a 1gig is currently running website and analytics, still working out the rest XD

Oh, makes sense. What about the GA won VPSes?

At least one will be used to help teach others linux , but like I said still figuring it out

Share your website, I wanna learn more about linux and especially security

It doesnt have much on it currently.... https://musselman.dev

I'm not used to seeing Caddy, I only heard about it from you and this my first time seeing a website using it

Yea its kinda new, but its just a easier nginx to me, never used gui tools to set up web server stuff, and this was less verbose

Cool, how much ram is that website eating up right now?

Really really low, it looks like statically generated.

it is :) and I wrote the theme. it's a work in progress

Wow, good work bro, although not a fan of dark mode. Why did you wrote it yourself, why bother creating something from scratch when you can have the same or even better with lower efforts?

Me neither. I love dark theme only for the reason that it is sometimes less straining on the eyes, but, for 24/7 usage, hate Dark theme, even on my phone.

I guess making a light theme version is on the roadmap

Are these the projects you referred to about building a portfolio? Are you aiming for a web dev job?

No, Ive been doing various web dev for years, this theme was like 20 mins work, and I need to finish it XD

Oh, so you have decent experience.
How can I position myself as a system administrator

Experience is key. Get your hands dirty with the technology you want to learn such as RHEL. Break stuff, fix it. READ THE DOCUMENTATION. Build out a homelab is also a good idea

But how do I build a portfolio with that kind of stuff?

Document the homelab, the decisions you made, what you learned, why you went with what you did, write out a DRP, most of it would show up via some sort of writing, you cant really show off SysAdmin as simple as a software dev would show off a project.

Hmmm never thought of documentation. Thank you bro, i'll look more into it

Documentation is necessary if you are going in adminstration stuff. No matter if server, computer or business.

I wouldn't need a college degree when I have certificates like cisco right?

College degree is basic, certificates are advanced level stuff. Here's an example a fresh graduates doesn't know what to do when getting DDoS, but a certified network engineer do.

True bro, They know nothing. I know a decent amount of people that have bachelors in computer science yet can't do basic troubleshooting

This is so true. BTW, did you complete your degree in India or some other country? Or, are you an elite institution graduate (IITs, etc.)?

India basic degree holder got family issues when I was trying to get in state iit.

Quite a few jobs require one

Lol if the us still requires degrees, I'm cooked here

It depends on the employer there are times it's not necessary but most of the times it's required

Do you work as a sys admin bro?

Nope, i work as a freelance tech advisor. And sometimes as dev troll to get some money.

yesterday night, in the mega thread, was frantic though.

College degree is basic, certificates are advanced level stuff. Here's an example a fresh graduates doesn't know what to do when getting DDoS, but a certified network engineer do.

This is so true. BTW, did you complete your degree in India or some other country? Or, are you an elite institution graduate (IITs, etc.)?

India basic degree holder got family issues when I was trying to get in state iit.

Ooh, that's unfortunate. But, I am glad you made it.

Yup was terrible but hey, i am still holding up.

Quite a few jobs require one

Lol if the us still requires degrees, I'm cooked here

It depends on the employer there are times it's not necessary but most of the times it's required

Do you work as a sys admin bro?

Nope, i work as a freelance tech advisor. And sometimes as dev troll to get some money.

Didn't know you had money in Dev trolling

Here's an example, I do web development stuff but as troll. Like my cx asked me angular stuff but the budget is peanuts, I do WordPress charge them the peanuts get done with it, say bye.

Does that "elite" degree come with some privileges?
    Sorry to hear that Trk,

Yup almost instant hiring right after graduation and with some awesome perks at that too.

    Sorry to hear that Trk,

IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) is much-like Ivy leagues in the US. The only difference being the exams to get into these institutions is much tougher and considered very tough even by Ivy Leaguers and their professors. But, given you are able to complete the 4 years of graduation course, you are pretty much set for life.
