Does the initial domain signing up with, have to exist or can be fake (a-la MXRoute)? I have my own that I’ll be moving over, just not right now

    TIA

Can be whatever you want that WHMCS will accept. It'll automatically get added to the management section for CraneMail but you can delete it and put something else in later.

Just went ahead and placed an order, with a “fake” domain (that seemed to be accepted in the first step) but the order was flagged as “Fraud” at the payment stage, and money refunded right away. Submitted ticket CRANE-6269, hope it can get sorted out soon

    TIA

  • @Francisco

How does backup work for CraneMail. I like to take weekly backups and store them on my own AWS bucket

  • @Francisco any Black Friday offers on Crates?

We're ~90 days out for the remote backups. We're doing snapshots for now. I wanted them to just be 'cover our asses', but i'm going to see if there's an easy way to allow pulling them. Biggest issue is just how big the archives could get (up to 10TB).

Mike has some discounts in mind for multi years. I don't expect any price breaks on monthly/shorter terms.

Should be sorted by Karen pretty quick.

    Thanks :)

    Some questions:

    1. Will the email work on any mobile client too? Like Apple Mail or Outlook?
    2. How can we upload files and share the URLs? How can we delete the files later if we want?
    3. File Size limitations for sharing via URL?
    4. Can we upload/download via SFTP?
    5. What's a domain alias?

    1) yep works great.
    2) you login to the webmail and under the settings menu you’ll see file storage. You can drag and drop.
    3) 10gb at the moment.
    4) no, but we are working to get rclone supported
    5) let’s say you own company.com, company.us, company.vegas. All point to the same company and employees, it’s just an “alias”. Some place call it a domain pointer.

    Francisco

    2) We have option to delete files too from the web interface?

    5) Aliases have to be setup via ticket?

    6) Is there option to backup a mailbox?

    2) yep of course it’s all there. It’s like a mini nextcloud.

    Francisco

If we upload file and share the URL, will the shared domain be namecrane's or our custom domain?

I would hope it'd be yours, but it might be workspace.org. I can check if we can override it on a per domain basis.

    Francisco

If hosting the domain is on another host, and email on NameCrane, then the URL for shared file will be on workspace.org?

  • I bought a life-time account, thinking that I could use this as a replacement for Dropbox or OneDrive. However, now I have come to know that only web-based interface is allowed for storage management. I kinda regret it now.

Confirmed. It'll use your own SSL given what others posted during the beta.

They're working on webdav officially and we've got a developer working on an rclone addon for it :)

Could you please indicate a tentative timeline for these features? I will be eagerly waiting.

The Smartermail guys expect it in the next few months. Rclone is whenever the developer gets it built out. It could be quick, it could take a bit longer (month or so if it's feaseable).

    Thanks for the clarification.

  • Your anti-fraud system needs improvement. My order is always marked as fraud, even though I have already bought two of your services.

Odd, Fraudlabs is usually not that picky.

Put in a ticket, we'll get you sorted :)

  • Any chance to make the Lifetime plan to have 10 domains ? Many on the fence regarding this would jump in quickly.

    Here is my ticket #CRANE-6280

  • Are we required to buy and install our own SSL certificate for IMAP / SMTP?

  • @Francisco On the reseller plans, the first domain created will be the default for the reseller? ie: myrellerdomain . xxx

  • FranciscoFrancisco Top Host, Host Rep, Veteran

@ypmLA77zcs said: Are we required to buy and install our own SSL certificate for IMAP / SMTP?

No not at all. We auto request a Lets Encrypt certificate :)

@Weblogics said: @Francisco On the reseller plans, the first domain created will be the default for the reseller? ie: myrellerdomain . xxx

Resellers don't even prompt for a domain when you order. We're going to change the non resellers, including the lifetime, to do the same. We'll just add a better welcome email telling people where to go.

I expect to have that done later today, as well as an SMTP/POP/IMAP page inside of the cranemail portal.

Thanks, info / help is real sparse right now to try and figure out.

For example, clicking on the Webmail / Admin Portal button takes me to here: https://us1.workspace.org/interface/root#/login

    or clicking on the https://workspace.org/

What credentials are supposed to be used in either?

You use the postmaster@domain email, and the password from the popup. Works on either page.

Yes 100GB plan has 10 domains, but 5 for 250GB is not enough.
    atleast 10-15 domains

  • How about privacy? Encryption?

All data is encrypted at rest.

Offsite backups will be the same.

Would 10 to 15 work? I can try twisting Mike's arm on it, but he's a large guy so there's a good chance he'll just club me.
