I too got the same. But lack of updates is little bothersome. ๐Ÿ˜•

There's nothing in this app that becomes outdated every other month so there's no need to update all the time. If newer connection protocols become popular or compatibility issues with future Android versions arise I've no doubt they'll update.

3 years is long time, atleast from my perspective.

I don't expect to see frequent updates. But internally the libraries bring used could leave some unpatched vulnerabilities.

It's making sure your core is secure to the most possible way of not the ui/ functionality

You are free to continue using it if you feel like ๐Ÿ‘

  • Also using JuiceSSH.
Why would it need an update?
What are you missing from it? For me it is the perfect mobile ssh client.
Have tried a few in the past but they couldn't convince me.
Since so many mentioned ConnectBot I checked out some pictures, but still didn't really convince me yet. I especially like the keyboard on JuiceSSH.

  • What vulnerabilities are you talking about?
Are you trying to connect to servers you do not trust? Are you changing the locks on your door every 2-3 years?

What threat do you expect when you connect from your phone running juicessh to your server?

I am no Android app developer - but, I do know Apps are built on libraries and they typically are updated to address vulnerabilities

Its fally to equate an app with a physical door lock.
Do you keep your OS updated? Laptop/ Mac/ VPS/ Dedi? Why?

JuiceSSH works amazingly well at what its supposed to do. I still use it, but for me its time to switch to something that is updated tad bit frequently.

  • Yes. Comparing physical keys and door locks are a bit different but still close. However access to your house will likely reveal way more worth than a simple server.

You don't have to always update your software or OS. It always depends on lots of factors especially if they are publicly available.

But you seem to have a wrong understanding of vulnerabilities.
If you use your client ssh software with legitimate servers what do you have to fear?

There will also be unknown or 0day exploits with no available patches. What will you do about those? Not using ssh clients at all anymore?

It's totally fine that you want to look at other alternatives. But this is a false kind of fear you are having. Would it be ssh on your server this would be something totally different or when you constantly try to connect to servers that aren't yours for whatever reason.

  • JuiceSSH, even tho it hasn't been vividly maintained for quite somewhile. The perfect virtual keyboard saves my life.

  • juicessh

  • snippets on termius, very useful to me. At least for new server hardening & updates.
it also has keyboard shortcut that can be customized.

    Thanked by 1plumberg
  • If it's not updated, JuiceSSH will stop working on new versions of Android at some point because it was built for an older API level. It already doesn't qualify to run in Android's new Private Space feature. I bought JuiceSSH Pro years ago, but I switched to Termius free version.

  • Termius

    Thanked by 1plumberg
  • juiceSSH UNsupported on Android 14.

so i use Termius and Termux on Android +10 up.

I hear your opinion. Guess we are having different ways to look at things.

I didn't realize like others pointed out, the Android API could be a problem?

For me it works on Android 14, yet. So who knows what's in store in the future.

Not to me, hence trying to seek alternatives.
I don't want to see fancy features or updates. Basic security would still help.

The fact that till 2021 it was frequently updated and then it stopped is not a bit concerning that we are hitting 2025 soon.

As some have said I may be looking at things differently and this may not be impacted
