ConnectBot
(combined with Hacker's Keyboard to make life easier)
termius
Damn, that’s a harsh life to ssh via phone…
+1 ConnectBot
Isn't Termius a golden standard for cross-platform client.
Try Unexpected Keyboard.
I'm lazy when it comes to switching from what I'm used to and feel comfortable with, but I've been reading nothing but good reviews about the Unexpected Keyboard, so someone might find your suggestion useful. Thanks!
Haha. It's just that one off instance. I prefer to use a bigger screen throughout
Plus Samsung has this DeX feature that I end up using so it helps.
Never heard of either keyboards... Will check
ConnectBot all the way. You can generate and put your SSH keys in there.
Surprised no one mentioned termux, swiss army knife for devs, basically you get a shell and you can install ssh packages with pkg, rest is as same as how you would ssh on a linux shell. If you want more than what termux native packages can offer you can setup a proot debian or ubuntu distro basically having full fledged sub os running with all the popular package support for ARM
JuiceSSH 💯
You know it's not updated since 2021?
Bit steep to justify 120/year for idling servers...
Termius #1 choice
Not really
it's free unless you use their cloud features
+1 Termius
I use Remote Desktop Manager. Even supports RDP and SSH tunnel.
Juicessh. I got a free Pro license about 9 years ago and haven't left since then. I also have Termux for different purposes but for SSH Juicessh is much more comfortable than Termux IMO. I also tested Connectbot before and some other apps but didn't like much.
ServerBox is my replacement for JuiceSSH. Amazing app, especially to keep all overview over the idlers.
Allows SSH login snippets as well, and export and import of the whole config. Only thing missing is no Fn keys like the JuiceSSH keyboard, but the deva are pretty active on Github.
Mobile SSH
Termius
+1 termius.
Running uptime server on device looks like unnecessary battery and mobile traffic drain to me.
termux and scripts...
I too got the same. But lack of updates is little bothersome. 😕
In the past I've used xShell and nRemoteNG but never really liked any. For the past 2-3 years or so I've used Termius and love it. Really does make connecting/working remote across devices or on my iPhone easy. I pay for it.
Termius via github student pack
How much SSH do you use on your phone? It's only polling as long as the app is open, so the battery drain of having the display on will be much higher than the power usage of polling. Mobile traffic: my phone says this app has used 15-30MB per month in the last months. Just read the back of the toilet cleaner bottle once a month instead of surfing while pooping, and you will have saved much more mobile data, but you do you.
Please don't misunderstand: It is not perfect and I have no further relationship with this app, but since I can't import my JuiceSSH setting from my old phones (15+ servers, identities, keys and snippets) and can't be bothered to type them in on my new phone, I gave up on JuiceSSH.
There's nothing in this app that becomes outdated every other month so there's no need to update all the time. If newer connection protocols become popular or compatibility issues with future Android versions arise I've no doubt they'll update.
