Totally agree
Storage box network Speed will be optimised in future?... I transferred 71GB file only 13GB completed in 6 hours 😔 @labze
I'd suggest just chilling out for the next few days and not bothering labze with the same questions over and over again. Be patient, this is a great deal and not something you should give him a headache about, expecting it to have top tier performance 24/7.
It'll come back up once everything settles.
And for the love of god, don't abuse the IOPS for no reason (eg. yabs), you're slowing down the whole thing.
Yeah it deteriorated again earlier today, maybe because of a new batch of deployments, who knows.

Peak 12.8MB/s
Naah im not running yabs. Just sync running backup
How long does it take for the service to be active?
@labze on the storage boxes, can we create additional users for ftp access? DA seems to have that on it's settings (under FTP management) but isn't working. Hence, the question.
I was able to create multiple FTP accounts for different directories on DA, if that what's your looking for
Well, hope the speed improves soon
It's fluctuating between 50MB/s down to 5MB/s
Yes. Creating of users works. But login using those accounts/creds is not working. For me atleast.
Hmmm I'm using rclone with the FTP account created on DA working just fine. Have you tried other FTP clients?
Yes. I have tried with FTP clients. But keep getting authentication failure.
With the DA storage boxes (4TB) - I want to use it to backup my NAS (via rsync). The programme I use (Hyperbackup) requires that rsync is setup as a daemon on the rsync server. Does this storage box give me that level of access?
I can see that SSH is available but I'd want to check before committing for a year (Currently I have an iHostArt 4tb VPS which lets me do this)
After seeing all these complaints, is this stable enough to get one now?
Not even close.
/etc is read-only
no sudo
Are people expecting top notch speed on their 500gb 7$ a year storage?
Depends on your definition of stable. Do you mean that it does not crash? Then yes it is stable. Do you mean you'll have full and normal bandwidth to upload? Then no, you'll have to wait.
We've sold well over 200 TB of storage in 2 days. Expecting that a normal load on the server after such a sale is a bit naive.
I'm not pointing fingers at anyone but I've already had loads of refunds requests because people complain that they can't do 50 MB/s uploads of their backups.
Set your expectations realistically if you want to enjoy this offer. I'm sure it'll be awesome in the coming weeks. Right now you'll have to fight for bandwidth.
Just to add to this. It's not first time I've launched very succesful storage offers and the history is the same. Degraded performance initially. Happy clients long term.
On that note the storage box is about to be out of stock.
Edited
Is there a file size limit on the DirectAdmin Storage Boxes?
16 TB
Bad deal
I paid $11/month for 4TB storage and it's joke. Extracting a 129MB zip file takes 13 minutes. Should've gone with KS-1 2x2 TB for just $4 more.
So it's possible to upload, say, a 100GB single file on the 500GB plan?
Or should have read the entire offer post before making judgements :-)
@labze how fast is the direct admin total link? 1 Gbps? Surprised I am getting 400 Mbps (50MB/s) when backuping files from another Hetzner machine of mine to the direct admin node.
This storage is literally the superior Hetzner storage box (for backuping Hetzner machines)
Panel doesn't make it superior per se, many will see it as +1 attack vector user has no control of.
actually i kind of agree that theres a good chance that the large storage space combined with directadmin will lead to unwanted customers hosting porn sites and illegal content. curious how this goes.
I am no stranger to abuse reports. Dealing with this on a IPv4 NAT storage server is terrible, it'll be easy on DirectAdmin as any abuse report will be directly linked to an account.
@labze can you disable ssh password auth for specific usernames on request?
