They are likely throttling the deployment of storage boxes because the current situation with upload speeds is already a disaster.

The recent changes that were applied during restart seem to have helped a lot. But indeed, I am staggering activation a bit and doing smaller batches of activations.

    7€ for 5 TB where?

5tb reseller is 84€/Year after the discount so 7€/month

StorageBox 4 TB is even cheaper. 1€ per TB/monthly

    Yeah looks better now.

It's much better now. I had speeds of max 5 MB/s before changes. I can reach up to 80 MB/s after your changes. Thats nice.

Probably because the other uploads got interrupted and temporarily halted during the reboot haha

Could be yes, but my test was like 5-6 hours after the reboot. Gotta keep an eye on it. Will check again in the next days. I'm really curious if it's going to work as a cheap backup solution. I am kinda worried about the bandwith of 1 Gbit/s for the whole node. That seems kinda low to be honest.

I just resumed my 100GB data push, 1MB/s, from Canada. :|

I just want to point out this:

    Important information
Based on experience from previous storage deals, do expect degraded network performance initially as clients push data into the server. This will likely only be relevant for the Storage Boxes.

Although network right now seems fine, pushed 70 MB/s from another DC in Germany.

  • wow the DA box host is massive. entire node just for storage?

  • Just ordered the 4TB Storage Box - Looking forward to play with it

  • My IP is blocked again. Can't use SFTP directly. I have to put Nextcloud behind Cloudflare as a workaround.

Nextcloud performance is very poor in my 500 gb. It takes around 20-25 seconds to open.

    Webdav gets non responsive.

I can upload from the browser but with same credentials, can't upload from the mobile app (any file gets stuck at 100%).

Not a pleasant experience till now.

For me, Nextcloud or any web-based file manager was too slow and unusable earlier before the server rebooted yesterday. It's much faster now. But the server is blocking IPs so easily and the unblock feature doesn't work. So I can't use it directly.

  • Open a ticket, indicate your IP and you will be added to the whitelist ✅

  • My IPs are dynamic so it will change and get blocked again. :D
Guess they have way too many tickets opened so I don't bother to add more to their plate.

    Now cloudflare got blocked. 😥

    Edit

    It's working now

your IP dynamic but I think ASN/subnet will be the same.

well, the same does apply to you of course, you should expect it too... may have been a good idea to buy some temporary bandwidth (and adjust price accordingly) to avoid customer whinges

Temporarily switch a hardware component in a server? Yea.. No that will never happen.

  • Took the chance on this deal. Hope it works out but still not activated.

  • Can we install FreeBSD on 10 Gbps EPYC Storage VPS boxes?

    yes

  • @labze DA Storage got better after your fix. However performance of BF VPS is still very poor. Any HDD file operation pushes Uptime overboard with HDD performance 10-20MB/s. It is the same for last couple days so HDD is practically unusable. Any plans to fix this? Thanks.

Exactly!, I got one hybrid server , the HDD performance is below par right now , but many users pushing data can be one reason, but limit on iops should take care of this !

  • I am not sure why but can't even upload a file to Nextcloud. Don't have experience with DA in past so can any one tell me where I can see the log?

I was stuck at 100% too, it seems ModSecurity's WAF is blocking it.
I think it's due to congestion and I will use it when things calm down.

  • There seems be some permission issue with nextcloud, files uploaded to the directory are not showing up in nextcloud UI. Anyone else seeing this?
