[UptimeRobot] Free plan will no longer be available for commercial use
UptimeRobot ToS changes from 2024-12-01:
"UptimeRobot offers a free plan that is intended solely for non-commercial use. This plan may only be used for personal, non-commercial purposes. Any commercial use of the free plan, including but not limited to, use by businesses, organizations, or individuals on behalf of a business or organization, is strictly prohibited.
If you require monitoring for commercial purposes, you must upgrade to a paid plan. UptimeRobot reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts found to be in violation of this policy".

What alternatives exist?
While not the same thing, the monitors included with Cloudflare Pro are probably one of their largest paid competitors.
Lots of options here: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/4049274
But I'd say:
self-hosted: Uptime Kuma
hosted: HetrixTools
HetrixTool
Why would anyone allow using a free service for commercial purposes anyway?
That is literally free service 101.
Updown.io works for me. Their pay-as-you-go plan is nice.
aff
UptimeKuma else HetrixTools is good.
Betterstack is kinda ok.
So that they're committed to their platform when the company grows rather than spending time setting up monitoring elsewhere.
For getting traction and subscribers to pro plans.
Free tiers are incredibly common across SaaS services. I’d say most of them have no limits on commercial purposes.
Are there any alternatives in terms of hassle-free free plan?
UptimeRobot monitoring basically can be set once and forgotten forever - there are no extra requirements.
HetrixTools is good in terms of features. But it requires you to log in at least once a month.
I'd prefer to have less functions, but no stuff like "remain active to keep your monitors".
uptime kuma, hetrix, prometheus.
Legit.
What might someone monitor for personal purposes - a blog?
And sixty nine idling servers.
Our members here owned Alerts.net free uptime service
Downtime Human
It seems to be 90 days since 4 years ago. (https://docs.hetrixtools.com/required-activity-increased-from-30-days-to-90-days-basic-package-discontinued/)
IMHO HetrixTools is great.
Uptime (formerly Better Uptime) has been solid so far.

Why login once per month to hetrixtools? I let it idle forever lol.
HetrixTools for online stable monitoring and UptimeKuma (self hosted free) on a different server with webhookd for fastest alerts with sms and emails/telegram on docker environment.
+1 to UptimeKuma
