It seems like there is a service being exploited very heavily in this community currently.

You can read more about that on stackoverflow to check if you are affected:
    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/60151640/kdevtmpfsi-using-the-entire-cpu

Affected are users with unpatched php or laravel installations/applications.

Consult with us on how to resolve this issue if you are affected and not experienced enough to take further measures in dealing with this issue.

Sorry, But i just check and I also got this. It's come from my postgre container is spinned up without restrict on port, so it public with default credentials. I restore it with my previous backup, so can I give my server ID for you to not block my services ? I saw my node running 100% for over 12 hours...

Your service isn't "blocked" per se, that's the reason why it is still available via SSH.
We just wanted to make sure that all clients with malware see a notification to contact our support.

I don't expect much users here to host missions critical production workload with us but if it has helped you already to prevent data compromisation or encryption by hackers as long as they only used your resources for mining then it has already been worth it.

Kindly create a support request in the cp to remove the current service state.

No, my service isn't blocked or getting notification or something. I only get my hetrix notification about high CPU load and then find out the reason, restore from previous backup, and all things done right now. So do i need to contact support ?

In that case we haven't tracked down malicious activity up to your vm so far as we trigger certain detection tools manually. In that case you don't need to open a support request.

But we have as well reported the server used for this malicious activity to the respective provider and it seems like it was taken down already.

Feel free to report the server used in your case as well, otherwise provide me the ip address and i will write up an abuse report.

Okay so I give you my ip in LET message, is it okay ?

No, the IP of the server that has been used to abuse your system, if you still have it

Sorry but no, I dont have time to investigate it. Instead, I mitigate it immediately so I dont have the IP abuse my system. Sorry about that.

  • I'm not on PH24 yet but to be honest I've read about the stories of high cpu usages autodetected and blocked. With that in mind, I mistakenly deployed a docker which sparked my cpu usage up to 109% for the first time consistently for 10 minutes as I couldn't put a stop on it because my VPS appear super laggy hence it does not accept any of my command including attempt to stop docker service. So it went on for another 10minutes and I decided to hard reset my VPS from the panel as I was worried my provider will wrongfully block me because of the consitent high cpu usage.

I understand with VPS we're actually assigned shared CPU resource and definitely no one likes "noisy" neighbours who consistently using 50% cpu. But I think occasionally like my case the cpu spike is purely an accident which could extend for hours if I would like to avoid for hard reset as a fear of data lost so I think the measure should be over days instead of hours. I hope my provider won't flag me though and I'm always looking to purchase a better plan in BF! Putting an close eyes on PH24 :)

They don't auto suspend high cpu usage. They suspend blockchain activities in my opinion :) My servere is abused by a malware that make my CPU run at 100% for about 12 hours :) but they even don't block or suspend me, just I regconize it myself and mitigate it (read our conversation above).

I think ProHosting should be in top providers in terms of flexible ToS CPU usage :)

Currently I already had 1 server with them, but if they run a good discount for BF, I think I will migrate my whole production cluster to them :) as long as they keep auto ban blockchain activities and monitor other intensive cpu usage instead of banning all.

Just took a quick look, here's the vm with longest uptime hosted by prohosting24.
Looks like the vm should be decommissioned anytime soon finally ^^

    db.internal.prohosting24.de | CHANGED | rc=0 >>

Expect cloud native experience with features like LBaaS, Floating IPs, Volumes and K8saaS.

What the expected price for LBaaS would be?
I hope it will be cheaper than hetzner.

It should be very similar as it looks like we are running a very similar haproxy stack.

  • What is the cost of additional IP addresses?

    1,40€/m per additional ipv4

When I checkout the IP pages this is what I see:

Adding another IPv4 address will incur the following costs:
    One time: 0.87 €
    New monthly price:
    6.40 €

Am I looking in the right place?

I'm a bit confused here. Does the 6.40€ include the price of the VM itself, ie if you added the additional IP when you order?

I already have a VM running and want to know the cost of adding additional IPs to it.

Your billing system is quite perplexing. Typically, other service providers send a billing notification via email a few days before the service expiration date. This ensures that users can make timely payments to extend their service usage. However, your approach is to first suspend the service and then notify the customer to renew, which is quite unfriendly to customers (since the service is interrupted, even if they renew immediately, the service still experiences a disruption). I suggest the following improvements: please send a renewal notification email 5 days before the service expiration and suspend the service only if payment hasn’t been received by the expiration date. Thank you!

  • @centurnse you've most likely noticed this, but just in case… there's also an option to enable automatic renewal for a specific period of time or until you cancel it.

However, of course this only works if there's enough credit to renew the service automatically.

Two VPSes (one still idler, damn fomo!), €60/year prepaid. I used the 20% top-up bonus when it was available (+20€ gift from host), which made the deal even better.
Pay attention around Black Friday to see if they offer something similar. It could make your VPS even cheaper.

you do not have to justify yourself to me in any way regarding your credit!

  • It's not a justification :) just a suggestion for making your VPS even cheaper if they offer a 20% top-up bonus or similar on Black Friday. Top up €48 to get an extra €12 in credit, which brings the cost of your VPS down to €4/year instead of €5/year.

If things stay stable as they are and the host doesn't go bankrupt (sorry, @ProHosting24 - that's a possibility I always take into account with relatively young companies), this might be one of the best VPS deals I've made recently.
