Yes, we use Retslav as upstream.
I am currently on vacation in France :D . I've started developing my own panel for billing and deploying/managing vps. Once it's finished, I will get a dedicated server as hypervisor for all the vps.

Maybe before start to developing you shit, fix your services??

    website is still offline...

  • Bad gateway Error code 502
    Visit cloudflare.com for more information.

  • Their website is still down and can't SSH. May be a wrap.

@Arkas, I think his services have been offline since the 'I am on vacation' message. He seems more interested in participating in giveaways than delivering hosting services. May I recommend pausing his Host Rep tag until he returns to business and delivers what people have paid for?

    @Arkas
i recommend straight up taking his rep role away and giving him a "scammer" tag
you have more than enough evidence in this thread alone

Speaking of giveaways, I won a little 2GB NAT VPS from Meegie in the Provider Poll ( #35 at https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/192410/provider-poll-2023-the-results/p1 ) back in January and it's obviously never been delivered. I can also confirm that my paid VPS with Meegie has been offline for 98 days or so.

It's hard to complain too much, but it would be nice if @BasToTheMax would at least provide an update every few weeks as to the status, progress, and plans. Then again, maybe I'm asking too much?

    Hi everyone.
I am sorry for the lack of communication.

To be honest, the $1/year plan i did was a bad idea. When I started with Meegie, I used a vps from Contabo. When I did the deal, it was barely profitable. However, i did not take in to account that stripe had a fee of about $0.30 and with currency conversion, the revenue per vps was about €0.62. This is way less than I expected. Also, I did not set a limit for the coupon code as it was my first time doing a BF deal on LET.

When I woke up the day after BF, I had over 100 orders, which was way more than i expected. Due to the 'large' amount, creating all the vps took a long time as I didn't had any automation at the time.
This was my first mistake. Of course, I could buy whmcs and use that to automate everything, but the license for that isn't worth it for $1/year vps.

When all the containers were finally created, I noticed high cpu usage on the node, even while 99% of the vps were idle.

At the time, I had a lot of contact with @MrRetslav and we've become close friends since then. He offered a server (vps) that I could use for Meegie to lower the load (but more expensive than contabo). So I started to re-create all vps on this new node.

This was fine for about 3-4 months, until (as most of you know) iowait problems started happening.
The second mistake I made, was not communicating this at all.

I started Meegie as a hobby, a side project, not to make money, but to offer something for cheap. I expected to host maybe 10 vps at most, so my vps wasn't that powerful. I was basically using the spare capacity on my Contabo vps. With all the problems I had, I just didn't feel like it was worth spending €200-250 in new disks for some $1/year vps.
Because Meegie was a side project for me, I also had other another job and school too.

So now we are here. Yes, I made some (big) mistakes, but I hope we can figure this out together.
    I have a few options:

    • Buying new disks and migrate all vps (loss for me)
    • Get a new contabo (or layer7) vps and use it as a node (wont be able to handle all vps until I figure out why proxmox is using almost all my cpu when all vps are idle. Also cpu steal)
    • Switch to Incus/LXD for all vps
    • Something else maybe?

Now I am asking, what do you, the community, prefer me to do?
Maybe an idea: I could also convert Meegie into something like MicroLXC, but then I do have to think about a way to make it profitable.

Of course, due to all the downtime, all vps bough on BF 2023, will be extended to march 31 (about 3 months).

I am not sure what to do next BF as not everyone might trust me anymore.

    Regards,
    Bas

I removed his tag, he is no longer a Host rep.

  • Hello everyone.

Meegie will be closing it's (nat) LXC services.
Feel free to DM your email to get a refund (not sure if it's worth it to get $1 refunded ).

    Regards,
    Bas
