  • @Calin - you are not scammer. You simply should have refunded the client using crypto, the same way he paid.

Now you just need to explain the whole story to the bank. Likely they will understand.

In this case a client wanted to pay in crypto a provider. The provider was paid in cryptocurrency. If service is not delivered, money should be returned using the same payment method: cryptocurrency.

    This depends on the contract.
When we post an offer that accepts Bitcoin, we specify that refunds can only go to buyer's PayPal or CashApp account.
It's because we accept Bitcoin in PayPal or CashApp account, and transferring to other apps would cost very high fees.

  • so next time a provider accepts crypto it must be on the condition that service will be provisioned only after he can successfully convert into cash

If Calin issued a legit invoice for the services he sold to his client, and explained that it is payment for x and y services, the bank would release it asap. But calin obviously want to keep this money outside the company to avoid taxes and stuff, so he has only himself to blame here.

Deliver the services, or refund money. There are no if, what or buts here. Simple as that. Untill calin refunds in full + interest (in the same currency he got paid) or delivers the services promised, he is painted as a scammer form me.

The bank issues has nothing to do with his client.

And he even said, if there are any problems, he would refund. There are problems and he is asking for KYC and shit lol

Exactly. So why he is even remotely allowed to be on this forum is stupid. @Mods really should kick him out, permanently. Others have been kicked for way less in here, but the romanian kid have some sort of protective shield around him i guess.

This won't solve anything, what mods, admins can do is to give Calin a timeframe to solve this. As far as i read this thread, Calin is willing to solve this in coming week...

This should never be a problem. It is not the first time he does this. He promotes DMCA ignored (illegal) hosting, supporting alot of illegal stuff, his services is constantly having issues, and he isnt even remotely able to deliver what he is selling.

    Get him out of here.

    DMCA ignored isn't illegal worldwide.

@Calin : Find upstreams that accept crypto. Could have avoided this by seeking upstreams and partners that accept the same payment types as yourself...

Just keep crypto as crypto. Find a hardware provider that will accept it to purchase hardware. Keeps Coinbase from making a killing on what I assume is a high fee for converting to cash (fee) then transfer to bank (fee).

  • Btw, argument “money is frozen, calin can’t refund” is nonsense.

    1. As a business entity - he has assets
    2. Sell assets: servers, ip space
    3. Refund
    Thanked by 3JasonM cotc 10thHouse
  • yeah... if a provider doesn't refunds nor provides goods and services then he indeed is scammer. He can sell his assets/servers/entire company/take new loan whatever, but refund.

  • yikes

The problem appears on how provider wanted to exchange the money into fiat with the purpose of refunding using this different payment channel: fiat. This is where things get dicey, because banks need explanations. @Calin is not a currency exchange company, nor should be used as one.

If a provider can be used to evade taxes by converting cryptocurrency into fiat for customers in refunds, abusers would pay huge amounts for services and ask for refunds in different channels to evade their governments. This is not right, nor should it be.

** As such, the problem is at @Calin who maybe should try to send cryptocurrency into the wallet of customer as it came, and be done with it (assuming the service can not be provided).**

Since Banks froze the amount on account of suspicion regarding the source, not even Calin has any control over it now. Those amount probably will be confiscated after certain period due to lack of proper evidence.

  • As for @Calin I would say this. Hire a translator for you sincce you're dealing with overseas customers and English isn't your forte. This will prevent many misunderstanding from both the client and your part.

  • This surely doesn't build confidence in iHostart for my future purchases.

I still feel that a lot of people reading the screenshots will believe that this probably isn’t some political blog being hosted.

It must be one hell of a political blog if it costs 22.5K of hardware to host.

If there is anything to be learned from reading this thread, it's that withdrawing crypto to a bank account/converting crypto to fiat is an extremely bad idea.

@Calin, be aware that if you refund money that the bank has blocked by law, you risk being charged with money laundering.

    Shady dude -> crypto -> crypto -> bank | invoice -> refund | PayPal -> shady dude.

  • What a liar @Calin is!

You claim you're "waiting for our reply"? I started this post because you weren’t replying to our messages! We’ve been chasing you for weeks, and we’re still waiting for you to address the issue.

It’s almost laughable how hard you’re trying to paint yourself as the innocent party. Now you’re making up lies about bank statements, our client, and claiming I deleted chat messages? Not a single word was deleted on our end. You must be the one trying to manipulate the narrative to look innocent here.

You’re running away from accountability, Calin. Stop making excuses and deal with the $20,000 you owe us!

Did you already refund your Client?

@Calin if you accept crypto it is your own fault if you can't deliver what YOUR! Bank needs to release the money.
If you need documents from your customer for this, you should have thought about it beforehand! I, for one, would not be prepared to provide such evidence retrospectively.

  • Gossd (verb)

    Pronunciation: /ɡɒst/

    Definition:

When you attempt to purchase items anonymously using cryptocurrency, but the unscrupulous seller entrusts the transaction to unreliable intermediaries. As a result, you lose both the items and the cryptocurrency, and are forced into the spotlight to provide identification and other personal information.

    Example Sentences:

Person 1: “I’m gonna buy some DMCA-ignored servers anonymously for my totally legal fruits and vegetable store.”

Person 2: “Sounds cool, but make sure you don’t get Gossd.”

This funny situation reminds me of Evoshosting—I spent quite a lot of popcorn on their fake evidence. In the Evoshosting topic, someone mentioned the resemblance between Calin and Evos, and now I can confirm that’s true.
From now on, it seems like buyers will need to be ready to prove their income just to avoid getting scammed. It's ridiculous, but also pretty hilarious. ˆ_ˆ
In Calin’s arguments, there are a lot of fallacies that sound very convincing. For example, he says that since he has many customers and he doesn’t scam them, he must not be a scammer. He rambles about other issues, blames the victims, and even accuses them of using dirty money, so in the end, he doesn’t have to refund them because refunding would be supporting crime... "
