If they remove all the setup fees I will go back using OVH otherwise not
Mmm, doesnt seem like a good deal then.
I Will try 1080p encoding with their 8/16 feauteres.
Lets see performance.
I take it there is no kvm or additional ip address on the ks servers
Is OVH going to comment as to why the KS-A still says 'soon available' ?
I can confirm that that’s just their text for out of stock
OVH themselves are a little confused about that one.
Just received instalation mail from one of two orders.
Currently installing OS.
SYS has this around 31 dollars.
Saw it 24 hours later. I regret everything. I need a good > $10 dedi to idle (besides that CC one from last year)
It's kind of like a lottery, depending on whether your motherboard supports IPMI or not. I grabbed a KS-LE-2 at BF2023, the motherboard model was ASUSTeK P9D-M so unfortunately no IPMI support
I've still got an old KS1 running in France (dog slow Atom, though it does have a 2Tb drive). I may grab a new KS1 and shuffle its tasks over there along with some other stuff. The price/Tb is better even RAID5ed, 3x the space (2x if R10, which I generally prefer), gobs more RAM, a significantly better (though still not great) CPU, and 3x max outgoing bandwidth.
I assume if I do drop it they'll cannibalise the thing for parts to keep the others of its ilk running as long as people want them to.
I wonder how many are still in use, and how many are genuinely used (like mine) rather powered on but than idling. And how many of those aren't lucky enough to have ended up with the 2Tb drive (mine started out with 500G, which began having issues and when they replaced it they did so with a 2T drive) – with the smaller drive I'd have probably replaced it with a storage VPS a fair while ago.
I'm never fast enough to get them anyway. Life gets in the way of having time to wait for offers, hitting F5 and pouncing just in time. Happy just to have a decent easily available offer (how 'bout a new KS1 in London?) rather than a small stock silly offer.
What was your order number and is your account in CA or EU?

He ordered KS-2… so a different product.
I wonder how many KS-a servers exist and if they're gonna restock them
OVH staff wondering this as well.
ya, i'm in the same boat. hanging on my cheap Atom with 2TB disk, mainly just for personal Nextcloud. still slow af.
hard to find something similar dedicated with that prize/TB, the new KS1 or 2 looks good for an upgrade. we will see, only BHS available, need something in EU. i agree on the BF part, when i see the offer, the good ones are always sold out already.
Congratulations to you guys, I want to try it too, but not available now...
It is just a marketing stunt. Also. Several have been asking about additional IP and the answer is no, there are no additional IPs in KS: https://www.ovhcloud.com/es-es/network/additional-ip/
I already posted the offers here when all of them was in stock in 2023. Look their offers site on the week of BF ovh.ie/black-friday and LET, someone will post them when orderable.
Everyone can grab one of the special items who expends a minimum of energy for this on the start of the sale. The only one secret is that buy if you find a suitable server in a suitable datacenter, because when the first experiences arrives (2022: duplex Gbps on IPv6 and 2023: doubled SSDs in KS-LE-2) usualy the popular ones are out of stock and restock very rare. And if you find a suitable one you can transfer it later to someone if you do not need.
I grabed a SYS-LE-1 and because I ordered in time, thanks to a bug I could place in to the SBG datacenter. SYS-LE-1 stock was out after 12--13 hours in SBG and there was no restock. And OVH fixed the DC selection bug which caused that if you ordered in France, the placement was random in GRA or RBX.
So add the week of BF your calendar, set a notification and good luck. Ohh and a suggestion, if you work or do something that prevent server orders, search for a friend who can do it for you. The past years experience that these machines are special edition ones so they are transferable on OVHCloud control panel and base price kept.
This is false, I've ordered KS-4(s) and both support additional IPs.
They just added this. I was not able to add additional IPs earlier too.
Has your server got IPMI? KS-4 equals to SYS-4 which provided this feature.
I've seen KS-1 temporarily available in Germany, that is one reason I'm holding out rather than dropping for a BHS one ATM. I don't think BHS will run out of stock any time soon as they seem to have most things available there, so I'll wait until one of the options is available in the EU, or I'm ready to do the admin of moving things around.
It does, if a KS server supports IPMI, it will be able to be accessed, if it doesn't, it won't. It's not guaranteed, but most of the servers support it, so will have it.
So if there is IPMI, additional IP can be purchased. Is that correct?

I love OVH's working website
Been getting this for AWHILE:
it's clearly mentioned on the new kimsufi page, just scroll down and look at the info boxes regarding IPs:
this has nothing to do with the availability of IPMI though. for that either the server hardware supports it and then IPMI will be available in the panel or it doesn't.
ordering additional IPs in OVH does not depend on that, because it's failovers and can attached to any service that's available in the same region and it can be routed to. doesn't matter if it's VPS, dedi, public cloud. the limit regarding "slots" or numbers per service is simply artificial and used as sales point.
They might not be able to detect your location/language. English as fallback would look way better...
If anyone is looking to transfer a KS-A server that is ideling to me on a OVH EU account I’ll be happy to pay you the full month fee and the setup fee.
I am looking for a KS-A server EU account.
I will pay 20€.
