Got the 14T storage box provisioned in STO. Obligatory YABS on the mounted storage disk and NOT the NVMe boot disk. Excellent disk I/O. Hoping it holds up.
Ordered another 16G Compute instance to make up for the underwhelming CPU performance (Understandable. VM is meant for STORAGE!)
The few specials we do per year are representative of the best deal we can offer at the time (and somehow also make the lowest margin on
)
I forgot to add this in the OP: these deals will expire on 10th September. Some of them may go out of stock earlier.
Storage plan with 7.00 TB, billed biennially (Stockholm).
I thought it was 3tb/$280/2 years?
And you also time them when my wallet is at it's emptiest
Sorry hosthatch. This wasn't the deal I was hoping for. Don't exactly have the funds to up front that much and the CPU restrictions (which is vague honestly) is a downer.
Good luck (and yes that review is coming. Likely tomorrow.)
Honestly I find the deals great.
Although, a little more creativity? @hosthatch
Do you mean for Sydney storage? Unless I am mistaken, it is better than the last deal that we had, that you were looking to get.
If you need to use our storage VMs for anything more than mass storage (considering your comment about the CPU limits), then it is best that you choose a Compute VM to go along with it. We don't really have any plans to do better CPUs on storage VMs. If you can find a provider that is doing that + RAID10 and close to our pricing, then I'd say go for it.
$115 USD is almost 200 kiwi bird money and 1 year commitment when I may not actually go ahead with what I want planned... That's asking a bit.
Nvme plans are great (killer infact) it's just the storage deals that letting me down...
I'd settle for a $5 storage plan on Sydney as a trial but it's not sold and that's what I was hoping...
I need more information about this in relation to storage plans. Could you please clarify what you mean by "fairly shared and restricted usage"?
I don't really want to do it myself... That's the thing and yes there are other providers out there but then I have to go look at ServaRICA (great btw) and then I run into throughput issues because SFTP over long distance is bad (sshfs from NZ to my Tokyo host hatch nvme tops out at 60mbps which isn't bad but latency is at 169ms, Montreal is 216ms so speed will be much worse).
Edit when I mean by myself I literally mean it... 500mbps upload is all fine until it isn't... Just another VM to add to my Hyper-V stack... And a USB 3.0 external...
We plan to eventually add Sydney to our standard plans on the website, but there is limited capacity available there. Anyway you can order the 1TB plan in Sydney if that is what you would like.
A clear answer would be close to zero, but we also accept some usage above that from time to time, on our discretion. For more than that, there are Compute VMs with powerful CPUs and clearly defined limits.
I will think about it.
Restricted usage is a turn off as transferring will raise CPU usage. Doing a package upgrade will raise CPU usage. Even updating the kernel will dramatically increase load.
I'll accept that they're shared that's fine but restricting usage... That just a turn off and I'm not someone who would run gb6 every hour.
(I know I am picky and a hard girl to please).
You’re not getting booted for running apt-get upgrade
imagine getting booted from
apt get upgradewould be the best discussion in this month
"Hosthatch banned me from trying to
apt get upgrade"apt-get autoemgh
Might get nuked for running Nextcloud though.
I know I'm picky and moaning about it but I just don't like the whole "restricted usage" thing.
Would this level of usage be considered acceptable?
Is APAC 4GB out of stock? Says '1TB for APAC' on all the other plans, but there's only the 24GB plan listted.
Compute instance with 16GB RAM in STO -
What's the uplink on these? Usual 10gbit?
Edit: Yabs above, yep. Awesome
Invoice #434417
Two years in Stockholm, thanks for such a great promotion!

Was this provisioned already? How long did it take?
@hosthatch +1 for NY deals, please.
I have the $55 box in LA with ~9 more months left on it. If anyone wants to take it from me, DM me.
@hosthatch is a premium provider
Placed the order right after I posted by previous YABS. The order got provisioned within the hour, I think.
Then I am not sure. I see an inv for $350.
@hosthatch can you confirm what previous deal (early May) was?
