Please tell them to buy $400/month resource pool from Summerhost Deadpool LLC.
Or a $8/year resource pool from AWS
Hey, at least they didn't quit the same day or you get announcement after network is already down!
I agree with everything said above, but this isn’t just a one-sided story. The hosting world is oversaturated. If you start a hosting company at this age, it will most likely be buried under hundreds of others. Why would you choose someone new, unknown, who doesn’t bring anything different to the table over thousands of others already established, unless they "sell" you a good numbers - whether in price, resources, or in some cases in benchmarks?
Taking the LET sale route means taking a shortcut. In some cases, it works, and you’re rewarded for it, and in others, it just doesn’t.
Recently, I was reading comments from a “successful” LEB/T host about how they no longer do promotions here because of all the crap, abuse, blah, blah, etc. for a peanuts. Blaming LEB/T as such.
I’ve heard these complaints from former LEB/T hosts numerous times. But those same people forget that no one would likely have even heard of them, they wouldn’t have gained recognition as great hosts, if they hadn’t gone through the LEB/T crap they now view from a patronizing distance.
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t blame them for that. If they outgrow the LEB/T clientele, good for them. But as long as we’re here, from one side or another, we're all in the same boat.
*Not sure why I’m still mentioning LEB/T and not just LET, as they’ve damaged the old LEB beyond repair
I figured it would be hectic with all the clients swarming for refunds (from the reaction in these threads) -- so I waited until yesterday to open a ticket, I got a refund less than 12 hours later, for 9 services.
@justvm unfortunate turn of events! I just wanted to applaud the job you did handling my refunds. I would've hoped for you to continue to provide your services but I understand that the stars don't align accordingly sometimes. Best of luck on future endeavors!
Much appreciated for the quick turnaround and hope it's as smooth for you and the rest of the community.
EDIT: I will note that when I opened my ticket, I calculated the total recurring cost of services (which was actually lower than what I paid because JustVM adjusted a ton of packages/recurring amount to be less than the initial purchase cost.. not sure if that was intended), and the total "transactions" made. Provided both in the ticket.. and it was handled quicker than I expected.
Like @stxsh my experience with @justvm was really good. I am sad that he is shutting down but I do greatly appreciate how he went about it. I think most of us assumed the worst when we got that initial e-mail but he proved us all wrong. I wish you great fortune in all of your future endeavors @justvm.
Yeah we got issues yesterday. Someone was DDosing us. It should be back to normal.
just wanted to say a big thanks to @justvm .. refunded promptly .. good luck in your next venture.
I could, but that's not how I operate. My customers trust me completely but that is a trust based on experience. It's taken me over 30 years to build my reputation and I'm not throwing that away.
Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely nothing against lowend hosts. If I did, I would most likely not be here. I love that some providers cater to people that can not spend a lot of money and that some of them even go to great length to keep the prices down and run amazing promotions. But as I said before, there is a very big difference between running a promotion once a year with unsustainable prices, and selling everything with unsustainable prices all the time. The first is a nice gesture, the second is pure stupidity or even fraud.
Just to clarify, I have no experience with JustVM so this is not about them. AFAIK by just reading this thread they have refunded their customers so it seems they would just belong to the "stupid" (no offense) category, not fraud.
he do fully refunds
Well, we tell customers to buy $6/year deadpool specials, but 3 of them from 3 different unrelated providers.
It's very unlikely to have 3 deadpools in the same week.
Hey @justvm - thought I'd buzz you here instead of tickets just so it doesn't get lost in the mix.
After getting the full refund, my VPS remained active. I went ahead and shut my instance down but don't want to see you on the hook for abuse/overages because some clown realized their server was still active after being refunded.
From OP:
servers can remain active until then, since folks might need to do backups/find alternate solutions.
Nobody is forcing anyone to request a refund immediately - just before the 21st of September.
Typically, when a provider provides a refund, their obligation they had to you is over, null and void.
When you put in a ticket requesting a refund, you shouldn't even expect anymore interaction from a provider after that point. You should get a notification for a refund being processed and a notification of cancelled service and your service is no longer accessible because that's how the process typically goes.
Given this guy's limited resources, if he was doing it quick and clean - the best way would be go would be to issue refund, close out service and if he's being a true bro, deleting the customer from the database entirely.
As far as deadpools go - this is one of the most positive outcomes I think I've seen here. People utilized the service for 2+ months and the dude still gave a refund in full (long before the September 21st date) and that should be more than enough.
To expect to be refunded AND have your server still active until the 21st is a very entitled way of thinking. This guy is still on the hook for whatever happens between now and the 21st. If someone decides to abuse it and he starts having to deal with abuse reports - that projected end date vs the actual end date may be two very different things.
Best thing to do is trim the brush to prevent a forest fire.
@Petey_Long you hit the nail squarly on the head there
I have to agree with @Petey_Long here, this is the cleanest deadpool I've seen in a long time.
Running a promotion and then shutting down two months later is not a good looking move, but refunding people for the full period and keeping the servers running so customers have time to move is a class act. It's the right thing to do, but the guy must lose a shitload of money doing it. Credits to him for that.
Big time!
That was my reason for posting. The guy obviously has good moral character and even though the uptime left something to be desired - I still would have been fine with a prorated refund just so he didn't have to eat all of those expenses himself. I did have exclusive access to a server for 30+ days without incident and with a full refund, someone who wasn't me paid for it and that doesn't sit well with me.
So @justvm - if you happen to have a way I could at least kick SOME money your way to offset the cost - let me know. I'd certainly feel better knowing that you weren't stuck footing the entire bill yourself after being such a stand up guy.
My refund is still pending, its been 5 days not had settle till now from paypal!
Just wait for it, I got it like a few hours ago (PayPal already confirmed a pending refund a while back)

Same here, Revolut just confirmed the inbound refund.
Mine took about a week but got the funds this morning.
My refund is still pending,
I have 1 complete and 10 remaining
Just noticed today that this happened. Was going to renew my server but I guess not.
My server vanished today, Had no clue. Need to find a new one
Think about what you need, then open a thread in which you ask for offers with your specifications.
There is also another option: grab some cheap monthly VPS while you wait for yearly cheap offers on Black Friday - but don't put hopes too high on this idea because bots and abusers will grab most of the crazy deals.
I'm kinda broke. JustVM had given me a free server for a year, they were amazing
Whenever you get computing power, someone has to pay for hardware, electricity, maintenance, connection, and so on.
If you want computing as a donation it is actually simpler: open a thread, state your project and request for a donated VPS as donation. Keep in mind you need a good reason and a non-profit project might have better chances.
For some reason my JustVM VM is still up
