Ivacy acquired by PureVPN
I know a fair bit of people here ended up buying the Ivacy Lifetime StackSocial deal a while back so I figured I'd post this here.
Ivacy just officially announced that they've been acquired by PureVPN. This isn't all too shocking, given that they've been known to be connected to each other for quite a while now. What's more pertinent for those (like me) who bought the lifetime deal is that they are porting subscriptions over to PureVPN if you go through the transfer process, and claim that "your existing Ivacy subscription and add-ons will be honored by PureVPN." I talked to their support to make sure that this also applied to the lifetime StackSocial deal, and they claimed it does (picture below), so that should mean that anyone who transfers gets a lifetime PureVPN subscription.

That being said, there are some concerns about this. One lesser one is that when I go to port over my account, the transfer page doesn't mention that I have a lifetime subscription, and instead wishes to give me a subcription to PureVPN at $0.67/m for 60 months and still asks me for payment information, despite that presumably not being needed anymore for a lifetime subscription. That in all honestly probably has to do with how Ivacy had set up their lifetime plans (you had to contact them after 5 years to renew your subscription for free) and that they just announced this, but it's a bit weird nevertheless. One other concern is that PureVPN actually had a lifetime plan a while on StackSocial that operates similarly to what Ivacy had, and you can find a fair bit of complaints about the process online, so getting that renewal after 5 years could be a bit harder than it was with Ivacy.
Overall, though, if everything does manage to go smoothly with the transfer process, I'd say it's a pretty good deal. Ivacy already was utilizing/reselling PureVPN's infrastructure heavily, so it's not like you'd be losing anything, and keeping the lifetime subscription would be the best possible scenario. That being said, I haven't ported my account yet, so I'm not entirely sure how seamless the process will be with my lifetime subscription.

Thanks for posting! I’ll also delay porting my Ivacy lifetime until they can sort out the process and clarify the lifetime extension

Bad news. Cheapest VPN gone.
Am sign up for update
Remeber tag @Ympker
Also funny that they sponsor me atleast 40$ via cashback program so thanks you Ivacy
Is this one of those copy/paste VPN conglomerates?
yip. another victim of the inevitable industry consolidation
Thanks for the update! Not too surprising given Ivacy's history tbf
Ha, I still have 2 Ivacy lifetime accs. One from 2017 without pf, one more recent one with. Once I return from my holidays I may try to port the older (now mostly unused) lifetime sub first.
Ping me if you will know more.
Lol, so my old Ivacy account for some reason wasn't eligible anymore (or sub expired since I didn't use it anymore?). I could login to the port page, but not actually port it. Just transferred my new/active Ivacy Lifetime account now. Inquired with Ivacy support regarding the lifetime thingy and contacting support to renew sub free of charge after 5 years. Support said PureVPN would honor this. So went ahead and transferred the acc. Not like I can change much about that anyway, and Ivacy App will shut down in 48h. I didn't enter any auto billing details during transfer.
Edit:
Contacted PureVPN Support after transition asking the same question:
Me:
So does this mean my lifetime subscription will be honoured and renewed free of charge, as per the original terms, if I contact you on this ticket 2-3 days before expiration date?
Sounds like a very ambiguous response, but let's be honest, they can promise you whatever they want now and don't honor it in the end. I'm glad a ticket was created regarding this and made a Google reminder to reply to it in April 2028 (2-3 days before expiry). Not more I can do right now.
Fwiw, I'm looking forward to the bigger server network from PureVPN now.
Do I need to change endpoints (domain in openvpn files) and open ports in purevpn panel?
I haven't tried this yet, since I haven't used pf in a while. You'd need to see/try that yourself. From what I've heard it should work very similar there.
PureVPN didn't honor my lifetime subscription in the pas. StackSocial gave me KeepSolid VPNUnlimited as replacement.
I opened a ticket with them and asked if they will honor the deal. Let's see how they respond.
i hope they honour my lifetime. ive not used it… but hope thats not an issue lmao
Is the Ivact lifetime deal still currently available for purchase?
No. Offers are no longer available on StackSocial.
Such as? I for example was already using PureVPN servers using ivacy (the openvpn login if one requested that from support, worked just fine on PureVPN ovpn files), possibly media specific servers?
They responded with:
im just curious as to why ive not gotten an email from them about this
i learnt this from a LET thread many others wouldn’t see
How do I port my Ivacy account though? The port button on the announcement page doesn't work.
NVM it works when logging in to Ivacy dashboard, not that page.
I ported my Ivacy account to PureVPN but the plan says billing cycle 60 months.
I merged very easily, nice!
gad damn their johannesburg servers are datacamp 10Gbit
Same here, cancelled my sub and referred me back to Stacksocial....
haibo
Seems like it's similar to the response I was given, except it says 2-3 weeks instead of days.
@Hotmarer regarding pf: in Dashboard I can block all ports/open all/open specific. How to use it on Windows/Android/iOS seems to be described here:
https://support.purevpn.com/en_US/port-forwarding-/how-to-activate-port-forwarding
Mainly more locations, so I can find best prices for GOG and other online shopping/cr sub etc.
For streaming, I only need US unblock, really. In that case Ivacy would've been just fine.> @nick_ said:
Same for me with the billing cycle. In Ivacy it said lifetime iirc, but showed expiry after 5 years. I always hated this ambiguous approach, compared to Keepsolid/FastestVPN/Goose who just put lifetime. To be fair, even Windscribe doesn't just put lifetime, and sets an expiry date. The good thing with them is, they keep renewing it as log as you are using it. But really, I prefer Keepsolid approach.
I migrated mine today and they told me contact when expired
I didnt get concept of Windscribe or PureVPN port forward, isnt they suppose to give us some token or something binding to know which device for port forward ?
Like i have server p2p need port and my phone dont both using same PureVPN account , how do i make my server alway have the port forward instead of my phone
The response I was given for my lifetime, which is about 2.5months from expiring: Please contact PureVPN support or email us on this ticket before the expiry date.
Keep us updated how it goes
Same Response I had too received from their Customer Support Team.
I ported anyway
Not like we have much of a choice than port it and see what happens.
