40€ incl taxes/EU/2 Gbps unlimited bandwith/8 core CPU/16 GB RAM/1 TB NVMe
Hi,
I'm looking for a server, whether dedicated or virtual, with the following specs :
- max. 40 EUR per month, taxes included, strictly can't go above ;
- located in the European Union, strictly can't be outside ;
- 2 Gbps bandwith, unmetered, symmetrical and dedicated ;
- 8 or 12 or 16 CPU cores, dedicated or virtual ;
- 16 or 32 GB of RAM ;
- 1 or 2 TB of NVMe SSD.
Bandwith wouldn't be continuously used (most of the time serving websites), but those 2Gbps need to be guaranteed when needed (a few minutes every few hours of big uploads and downloads from 1 to 5 simultaneous clients).
Thanks

Good luck! If you find something please share it with me.
Thanks
No problem.
@KaKi87
You need to think outside the box if you are looking to stay within your budget.
2gbps? that is tough
unmetered bw @ 2Gbit? that is even harder
2gbit unmetered AND dedicated? NO WAY
2gbit unmetered AND dedicated AND 40 eur? Impossible.
You don't need unmetered traffic for this.
Why everything seems cheap except bandwith ?
When looking at 1 Gbps servers, 40 EUR can buy you 8/12 cores, 64 GB of RAM and 1 TB of SSD, but when only wanting more than 1 Gbps of bandwith, it's unreachable at that price regardless of everything else... Damn, why ?
I am using 2-3 TB on my $1 vps, so depends on the plan. (The plan limit is 10 TB per month)
Again, think outside the box
— I am a data engineer and get paid for playing with numbers.
Well most servers are sold as 1gbit or 10gbit. Very rarely would you ever get 2Gbit or 3Gbit servers unless you are OVH.
You seem to be talking about traffic but not bandwith 🤔
Couldn't a 10 Gbps host machine provide a virtual machine with 2 Gbps ?
That said, I wouldn't mind 10, but is that any easier to find whithin this price range ?
Thanks
Well, the shared data port is 10 gig
The cost of this vps is less than $1 per month
How the fuck did you quote someone and somehow tag me in the quote?
You can go for Netcup. Their RS4000 (31.59 EUR) or VPS8000 (38.08 EUR) comes under your requirement. If you are a business customer, you can get the 19% vat off of the price and make it even lower.
Though read their policies properly, especially the cancellation policy.
There are some coupons available. You can google for those.
What do I need then ?
I need dedicated bandwidth. Not as much as 10, but I do.
Typo, sorry 😅
I was very much interested in Netcup indeed, but turns out they only guarantee 1 Gbps, the rest being "up to 2.5 Gbps".
Thanks
Then, your budget must be set accordingly.
That's why I asked : why is CPU cheap, RAM cheap, NVMe cheap, but bandwidth expensive af ?
I think you mean 2 Gbps Port Speed with XX Traffic / month
because 2 Gbps Unmetred is 650 TB / month.
You should be specific how many TB you will consume / month.
I indeed don't need that much as I said I won't be using the bandwith continuously, however I can't predict how much I'll use, it will depend on how many times my friends will download stuff and what they're going to download. So I won't accept a limit for fear of reaching it and everything going down.
Because traffic is expensive, depending on quality/mix you're talking ~€75-100 per 1Gbit, can be lower if you find someone with a high commitment - Those expenses are monthly recurring expenses - The only way to hit a price lower than that is basically to sell it X times over and hope not everyone use it at the same time.
Hardware is a onetime payment that you can split over 3-4-5 years depending on the risk you wanna take.
Power and Bandwidth are essentially the largest operational cost.
I see...
Why is domestic bandwidth much cheaper then ?
Me and my friends can all afford multi-gigabit FTTH but I can't afford a server to keep up with it 😭
Exactly.
When $1 VPS plan has 10 TB bandwidth at 10 gig shared port -- the provider is hoping that I will be using only a small fraction of the allocated bandwidth.
Okay so what's the provider ?
Because your domestic bandwidth is sold 30-40-50 times, it isn't uncommon for a 10Gbit pop to host 100-200Gbit worth of endusers.
Domestic bandwidth is you getting 1Gbit and potentially using 10Mbit average, in the DC you see much higher usage rates
Could you send the link for this VPS provider? Thanks..
No use, it is not dedicated bandwidth. And you are looking for dedicated data port with symmetrical up and down speeds.
Well, apparently I have no choice.
You can do it but with a compromise:
Layer7 — €17.90 / month yearly
6 Ryzen Cores (shared)
24576 MB RAM
720 GB NVMe
51200 GB/month bandwidth
5.0 Gbps port speed
IPv4 + IPv6
France
AllHost in the UK floats around similar values but with 16 Epyc cores. More affiliated compromises.
I can't afford paying yearly 😅
Also I'd absolutely need more storage but wouldn't need as much memory, e.g. 16 GB RAM and 1 TB NVMe.
