Well ASRock keeps haunting me. It does look like this is the around 12th or so ASRock motherboard that dies on me. It needs to be replaced as the server kept crashing and now it refuses to boot.

    what is your solution?

I'd say that's pretty obvious. Getting the hardware replaced.

OKAY, HOW LONG WILL THE SERVER BE DOWN?

it's been too long. if we can get a backup, we will move it to our other server.
I feel sad, our client whose website is for an online shop.

It would be interesting to have a post-mortem on all those dead AsRocks if you can find the time to dig into it. I thought these motherboards were kinda popular among all those Ryzen hosts.

Quite curious aswell - We have about a 100 Asrock systems in a mix between 1U4L2E-B650 RPSU and 1U2S-B650, we haven't seen any failures at all over the past 6 months we've been running them.

    Maybe cooling related?

As far as I know it's related to the BIOS chip.

On 12 boards? 12? Are they from the same batch?

Well this thread is not really in regards to VPS services. But yes, DE-7950XD-FRA-9 is currently facing issues. Seems like a lot of these issues in the datacenter stem from ASrock mainboard issues. It is being looked into.

All B650D4U built before March have this problem, we do not get a S/N list from AsRock to exchange the "defective" boards in advance, all after that run without problems, so neither reboots nor the ‘complete’ exit of boards. We now order directly from ASRR to get new batches that are not affected by this problem - so depending on where you buy them you can be lucky or unlucky to get a good one.

To be honest, the Supermicro AM5s aren't really any better, second M.2 port with PCI-Express doesn't want to work (BIOS update is probably coming), random reboots, IPMI briefly unavailable during a reboot (also had the X12SCZ-QF) and so on. I wouldn't say cooling related, that's obviously a general problem - our boards have this with air or water cooling.

Thanks for this - We bought the nodes directly from Asrock, they're all from January.

How do the issue show itself? Just so we have something to go from, so far we've had 0 problems with them.

Is this the reason why cPanel Singapore JetBackup has stopped working for 2 months?

  • For important websites, it is important for the user to have their own backups.

I migrated my VPS (from other providers) to excellent shared hosting plans from HostBrr (4 Ryzen CPUs ⚡, 4GB RAM, 100 GB NVMe SSD with FTP and SSH enabled by default).

    About JetBackup, I have:

    • Germany with DirectAdmin, working ✔️
    • USA with DirectAdmin, working ✔️
    • USA with cPanel, not working for a few days ❌

As I have my own backups (using FTP, RClone, Cron Jobs, SSH, script with LFTP), JetBackup is optional for me.

So, will I continue with HostBrr?
✅ Yes, I will renew all my hosting packages
