Gigahost from Denmark, Terra from Norway...

Where did you get Denmark from? Both companies are listed in Sandefjord, Norway.

    he used google.dk not google.no

  • Mmm, there's definitely a reason you pulled out of the US and sold off your EU locations.

I don't really have anything against you or Epik, but there have been red flags surrounding Terrahost for quite a while now.

They sold it to themselfs but under a different company. Still havent gotten a statement about it though, and weird that they just said "we sold to gigahost" and not "we sold terrahost to ourself"

Even so, there's a reason that was done.

I find it hard to believe Rob has recouped his investment already.

terrahost.com keeps redirecting to terrahost.no so can't really access the English version @terrahost

They've started migrating customers to gigahost.no.

    https://flux.gigahost.no is the "new" Enigma.

Front up: I'm a customer - and a very happy one. I consider @terrahost to be among the best providers here.

I don't care about the Epik banter, what I'd like to know more about is - no offense intended - Who and what da fugg is Gigahost?

Never noticed them so far. "Is it true that in fact terrahost - under a different name - buys itself back?" is an interesting question and I'd welcome some statement from @gigahost on that. But (for me) it's not a critical point. "Since how many years is Gigahost in the hosting business?" is important. "What's their reputation as hosters" is important (IMO).

So, Gigahost, how about telling us more, preferably much more ...

  • jlet88jlet88 Member

I'm a former customer, left during the Epik mess. Now I'm potentially interested again. Hopefully they will keep their competitive prices, good service, and prior reliability. Glad to see them moving forward.

So it appears to be back in the hands (partially) of the owners who we originally trusted.

Could be as something simple as the Terrahost name wasn't a part of the assets sold back to the guys in Norway.

As long as my TheForeverCloud server keeps on idling, I'll be happy.

  • defaultdefault Veteran

I believe Gigahost ended up cheaper in buying back the business, without the old brand. Now they start forming a brand again, as it was before the Epik deal.

What makes me curious me is why call it Gigahost? Exahost would have sounded more futuristic - but maybe this is just a subjective taste when it comes to naming a business.

That was what Terrahost was called before it became "Terrahost"

Was working earlier, now it's not working, can't login.
I even had active session from few hours open and everything was empty before logging out.

Love it! I hated the takeover by Epik, I'm glad they were able to get the company back.

api.gigahost.no is currently down, the 502 is cloudflare's, which is why the panel isn't working

You guys don’t trust Epik, but you trust someone who sold you to Epik?

    What twisted logic is that?

Honestly, I only run a few containers there, those can easily be migrated elsewhere and don't hold any critical data.

My issue back then wasn't the fact that they sold to Epik (Epik looked like a proper company, this was shortly before the fallout), much more the lack of statement - might just be the regular Norwegian way though.

For Terra/Giga, this whole back and forth probably means more money in their banks, and hopefully a few lessons learned

Still looked like they valued money higher than letting clients off to good hands.

No denying that, which is why I like that instead of letting the company fold in Epiks hands, they decided to buy it back!

My guess: At a lower price, making instant profit, now, after restoring stability, ready to sell it once again

Terrahost had a commitment to legal freedom of expression, will Gigahost have the same commitment?
