Hello :)

Disclaimer:
This VPS was loaned to me free of charge for 3 months.
However, I have nothing to gain from posting positive review.
No promotion, no gift, nothing.

Hosting provider: Skhron @tentor

Specs of the VPS tested:
XSIG-2
2 vCPU (full utilization allowed, continuous usage of 50% for FUP)
2GB DDR4 ECC RAM
72GB RAID10 SSD
1Gbit/s (8TB traffic)
location: Poland, Warsaw

At the time of writing, I've had the server for 75 days.
I used it mainly to test a tool I'm developing. I needed servers in several locations.

As I said, I didn't have a constant and heavy workload on this server over the period.
But I've had spikes in usage that don't show any CPU steals. (Hetrix monitoring)

Server stability was very good throughout the period. The server has never restarted since I got it.
However, network uptime has not been perfect, but very good too.
The server has been monitored with hextrixtools, which currently indicates an uptime of 99.9886% (including maintenance window).

This could have been much better, as maintenance was carried out recently. It was scheduled and I was notified by email.
This had an impact on the current month's SLA and an extra day was automatically added.
No need to complain, it's fair play.
99.988%, almost 99.99%. Let's face it, that's pretty good for a service at this price.

What I like:

  • Premium facility: Equinix WA3.
  • Virtfusion panel - Best SaaS panel from my point of view
  • Good support of custom ISOs
  • CPU / RAM disk space ratio. BIG plus point.
  • The founder is quite active in the community. You only have to read a few of his posts to see that he knows what he's doing.
And above all, he doesn't post just for the sake of his company. That's cool.

  • Stability

What I think could be improved:
Offer a wider range of products
More powerful VPS, the largest plan having only 4Gb of ram. Storage VPS / storage space?

VM-x/AMD-V CPU flags
Not really a problem with cheap offer like this one
But I like to have it on VPS with 8Gb of RAM.

The website could be improved.
Even if this has nothing to do with product quality. It could give more confidence. In my opinion, it's an investment worth making.

I'd love to see Poland moved further west, it would be closer to my audience.
All kidding aside... I mean having more locations. But all that will come in time, I guess.

Definitely recommend if you're looking for a server in this part of Europe.
It's rare to find such recent companies offering such high-quality services.

Can vouch for Skhron's reliability for the past few months I've been using them (Since September).

Only 1 outage which was notified and everyone affected got their service extended (I think it was automatic? didn't bother tbh, shit happens).

No issues since then. Have only monitored network, as the server is just a proxy and has low CPU and RAM. 20s TCP checks, rock solid.

@remy, we are grateful you for serious and responsible attitude to the evaluation of our service. Thank you for taking the time to help us become better.

What I think could be improved:

    • The website could be improved

Custom design for our website is currently under development.

    • Offer a wider range of products

Growing the services list is indeed an important goal, however in our opinion it is much more important to consummate (or get as close as possible to it) for the existing one. Each new product or service has its own aspects that must be accounted as early as at a planning stage.

    • VM-x/AMD-V CPU flags

Initially, it was planned to add the support for the nested virtualization with an introduction of VDS tariff plan line. This is due to the most common usage scenarios imply constantly high or frequently high load, which could easily violate current Fair use Policy and cause severe performance degradation leading to poor service quality.

    • more locations

Launching new sites will grant our customers tons of new possibilities, including new services requiring anycast.

Given that our key priority is reliability, we can't accept risks related to dedicated servers lease, which would enable us to grow Points of Presence amount rapidly. Our guiding principle is quality, not quantity.

We are glad that in your advice we saw exactly the goals and objectives we have already set for ourselves. This means that we understand our customers correctly and are moving in the right direction.

This review helped me to find this service when I was searching for a new VPS in PL. Premium network location (great peerings in PL, stable ping), support responsive and helpful, good performance and stability. Been with them only one month, but so far very happy, especially for the price.

One thing to add, maybe will be useful for someone who wants to use their vpses as vpn servers.
I've tried that for PL based family. While all geoip databases locate Skhron's IP as PL based, Google does not. As far as I know Google locates IPs based on where the entity owning them is registered.
Skhron's IP is located by Google as Estonia, which makes browsing from PL a bit difficult (for some reason I've also seen the same IP being located by Google as Croatia for few days).

The IPs are registered to a legal entity in UK, our ASN is Estonian one. Thanks for this information, will look further into this problem.

Please post an update here if you would be able to get this resolved, it's the only issue that's blocking my usage of your service for this specific purpose.
I've tried filling in the "Report IP problem" page on Google several times, it helped and the IP started to be located as PL, but after two days it reverted back.

also @tentor not sure if this could be the issue in this scenario?

Too bad if Google prefers RIR country and not one specified in geofeed. However thank you for this guess, I will consider it as well.

I usually would, but I've seen similar problem with many foreign providers having the same issue with Google, so I figured it's rather something you can't really do anything. about...

I've just tested with another provider that has RIPE IPv4 block as "Country EU" and can confirm it also geolocates me to the ASN country (in this case Ukraine) (whilst the server being in Slovakia)

however if I test with a server in Ukraine (ASN is United States) but has RIPE as Country UA then it geolocates me to Ukraine properly.

Just my 2 cents, can be wrong.

Here's a test with IP pool with RIPE as Country: PL, but the owner is registered in Bulgaria:

The IPs are registered to a legal entity in UK, our ASN is Estonian one. Thanks for this information, will look further into this problem.

Please post an update here if you would be able to get this resolved, it's the only issue that's blocking my usage of your service for this specific purpose.
I've tried filling in the "Report IP problem" page on Google several times, it helped and the IP started to be located as PL, but after two days it reverted back.

Does YouTube also identify you as from Estonia?
(the logo top left should have EE)

also @tentor not sure if this could be the issue in this scenario?

Too bad if Google prefers RIR country and not one specified in geofeed. However thank you for this guess, I will consider it as well.

Not sure if it's that simple.
Here's a test with IP pool with RIPE as Country: PL, but the owner is registered in Bulgaria:

can you check that IP against Maxmind? does it report PL or BG?

You can change this, you know? If we're talking scraping etc?

We're talking human traffic. There are settings in Google to show results in a specific country, but youtube still opens at geolocated location, a lot of other stuff also opens with Estonian language...

Google marks IP locations by their own strategy.
It's not related to any obejct details of IP addresses in RIPE database, it's just Google's thought.

It's a pain for ASN operators to deal with this. Even you report to them, things rarely get fixed.

As I know, most of the case, for v6 prefix, they will by default mark it the same as your ASN location (RIPE force a "Country" item into your ORG object, Google should identify your ASN location following by this I think.).

For v4 prefix, sometimes you get fixed after several monthes when you change your announcing location, but that need a lot of luck to happen.

And obviously, Google manages its own IP geolocation database. I heard they sometimes use android devices' GPS telemetry report (for example like Google map) to update their database.

Also if you're peering with Google, by using their Peering Partner Portal you can provide a geofeed url getting things fixed elegantly, but recently they do not easily accept new peers as I know.
