Monero Mining

  • Once again chaps, I will not be mining anything. Will just look to relay as much jellyfin and node relay traffic as I can.
    Appreciate the inputs though. thanks!

Off chance, does anyone know a VPN provider that would allow me to run an exit node through it ? dedicated IP. No low grade providers like Nord, tunnelbear, etc. Thanks and apologies for being off topic here

Well, it's your own thread, so... ;)

You'd probably still get more replies if you'd just start a new thread.

I really wonder what's up with that since as far as i know Hetzner has no problem with people burning CPU. Their support has literally granted requests with the stated intention of being able to burn more CPU (obviously not crypto related but their electricity bill won't care about that after all).

I could be that simple? Cost of electricity.

Huh? Electricity doesn't cost more or less depending on what activity it's burned on and Hetzner seemed to be perfectly fine with making sure i could use as much CPU as possible fully knowing that it would be a constant 100% load. In the end if i mine crypto or permanently push 100% CPU otherwise wouldn't really matter, would it?

This is actually not exactly true. Burning 100% of the CPU cores with a loop would use way less power and generate less heat than the most efficiently designed mining algorithms which make use of advanced AVX instructions and techniques to avoid bottlenecks so that maximum hardware usage is achieved. So specialized mining software that lights up a larger portion of the silicon could cost them considerably more than just about any other software.

Yeah, that's true. A simple spinlock won't cut it. It'll need to be thoughtfully engineered loop ;)
