Avoro Root Server S
disk speed is amazing @nfn
can you manage that too @layer7 ?
But it seems to be varying quite a bit. In comparison to another benchmark of the Rootserver M it is with 4k blocksize 40% faster. (But the other benchmark was still extraordinary fast)
What I find a bit strange is that the CPU (single core) is in this test 25% faster, but as it is the same CPU, and the cores are dedicated, I thought that it should be nearly the same. Or could that have something to do with the older kernel?
@dataforest
I was comparing Avoro Root Server for 9€ with Netcup Roo Server 9.5 from Eastes 2024 but Avoro it's faster. But Netcup routes are better for me!
Edit: I exchanged some emails with them (Avoro) last night and they use Proxmox. They'll do live migrations on request too!
Maybe we can optimize routing, for that please contact our support.
Difficult to say, we would have to look at this in detail if you knew the exact vServers.
anyway quick response @dataforest and that on easter sunday!
Well, that's a good easter present , thanks
I'll do that in a minute.
That's one of the things why they are one of my favourite providers - fast answers, transparent (and of course good products ).

Thanks

IOPS seem quite low for an SSD unless there's something wrong with test
We are currently encountering SSD problems with the Raid, one SSD is causing the whole raid to be slow.

How much per month? Any link?
Crunchbits [PA] 2TB Storage VPS
NL10GbpsStorage-2 / Storage KVM Sale / $80/Yr
Crunchbits 4TB Storage [WA]
Current VPS i have
GreenCloudVPS NVMePromoUK-1GB [COVENTRY] - $20/year (1GB/month BW capped)
Hostaris KVM-XEON-1GB10G [LONDON] £18/year
the hostaris vps had 3ms better latency to the edge router of my ISP & unmetered which is why i got it, if the performance was stable id be happy to replace it as my tunnel-out server, couldn't care about ram or compute, just needs to do iptables. sadly it periodically freezes and i suspect the storage is what is causing performance issues.
my stab in the dark is the host is sata maybe sas, enough VMs to saturate sata queue. gonna ask them if i can pay the extra to upgrade to their london ryzen server which should be using nvme and therefore wont have this issue.
