Now I wonder how many domains it would lose with a .com shutdown.
LOL! Unimaginable.
Phew... I thought CF lost 22% domains registered with them just from reading the title. Just proxied domains it turns out.
At least they do mention that. But well, nothing of value was lost.
Dont think CF gives a single F about it...
Don't get why the news title is so cloudflare-centric. Who cares that cloudflare "lost" a bunch of spammy free domains with probably very little traffic.
The real big story is that freenom has ceased its domain business because of a Meta lawsuit, which means no more free domains since there was no competition as far as I know?
there's still some but getting lesser and lesser. non-free can be obtained for near free anyway. it was only a matter of time that it got taken down. its impressive how long it lasted
remembering IPv6 is a piece of cake, stop complaining
Which other ones are there?
What is still free or near free?
How does that replace a free domain?
... and that's why using a crappy tld for a long term project is dumb!
CF probably doesn't care. Less abuse reports, not less money as these probably where on their "free" plan.
eu.org, pp.ua, 6 digit xyz domains
eu.org no longer responds to new registration requests.
pp.ua seemed clunky when trying to figure out submitting a registration. I assume it may still work.
741903.xyz is ugly.
got 757775.xyz, maybe just use HEX and find a word that fits.
That's not the same though because freenom offered free domains on actual TLDs, not subdomains. For subdomains a ton of free DynDNS services come to mind too.
eu.org and pp.ua is a TLD according to PSL
Wasn't aware of that but I think you get what I mean. .tk or .ga or whatever don't look super legitimate, but still look more legitimate than .pp.ua.
A Top Level Domain is only a domain on the right of the first dot. Once you have a second dot you're dealing with a Second Level Domain.
Yes.
Sorry my bad.
I meant that eu.org and pp.ua are both considered as domain names rather than subdomains.
starting at $1 yearly https://tld-list.com
it doesn't
The lowest cost TLD registration (.stream and .click) that it is showing is $3/year (renewal).
The problem is that there is no way to be sure that pricing won't increase in the future.
If the renewal price is good, you can simply pay for 10 years in advance at the current (low) renewal price.
But that juicy
.ml
domain thoPlease look at renewal prices, not the first year.
What was the lawsuit about?

One indeed needs to be alert about renewal. Laziness is key how money is made with such cheap initial registers. This can be crazy amounts. The advice here is to transfer it or manage idle projects.
Deadpool.
Seriously does suck. I mean, they aren't super expensive, but it's hard finding a nice registrar.
Freenom was a nice registrar?
