I never said you need aadhar card, I said I'd proof which can be pancard, driving licence, passport, voter id. Are we here to discuss gov policy?
You are just blaming the system by saying it's your opinion. I already discussed with you in my last post all what I had to say. By keep repeating same point , you sound like all here are kids and don't know how to handle there id proofs
You are bypassing my question, I asked earlier
AWS , VULTR etc do not require passport copy and selfie picture
These are YOUR requirements and customer should know that selfie picture is not a legal requirement and by law, you are required to keep customer KYC and data for FIVE YEARS even after services are cancelled
Then, it is entirely upto the customer if they are ok with such record keeping practices
Simple solution. Just mention all these KYC requirements in the offer post. Users can then decide if they want to sign up for that or not.
Exactly, my point.
Selfie picture is not a legal requirement should be mentioned along with record keeping practices of keeping KYC and PII information details for five years AFTER the service end date
Then all the needed details are disclosed to the customers .
AWS and vultr provide cloud server so they maintain logs. In vps and dedicated server maintaing logs is not possible.
Kyc requirement is mentioned in our website.
Just be a nice guy and next time mention that - not everyone is aware how your local law works. I know this is not the best selling point for international market, but being upfront clear will save you (and clients) a lot of back-and-forth... like dev_vps for some reason having problems that you follow the local law, lol. Nothing wrong here now, just simple request for future ;')
in my opinion, both KYC and Record Keeping practices info should be included in the offer, for transparency purposes
And new upcoming Indian laws are even more strict.
Thanks for suggestion. Our development team is working on function that client would not be able to purchase without doing kyc. And for now we refund if client doesn't want to share kyc.
Would you like to answer my question posted earlier?
You already answered, it's 5 years
I have no issues @Hostzop is following the local laws. In fact, they have no choice.
But they hide critical piece of info of record keeping (including KYC documents) for 5 years EVEN AFTER services are ended. Not every customer who is signing up for these services are aware of this.
They like keep such info hidden under "following local laws" phrase.
Thanks for confirming it.
Such critical information should be included in your offers as well as your web site terms and conditions.
Do not expect customer are aware of such record keeping practices
I wish I could get 5 years after-sales service for free for everything (except profiling).
I think these offers aren't competitive. And the ID card... I can't remember the times some Indian tried to grab a pic of my ID card on r/bitcoin impersonating customer support.
Can anyone answer why only small companies in india asking for id and selfie kyc ... bigger ones like ovh , vultr , digital ocean do
not ask any id proof and all selling vps and dedis
Selfie is not a legal requirement, rather it is an EASY way to deal with it based on THEIR business model.
https://www.hostzop.com/kyc-verification.php
nowhere they have mentioned these important points
1. How long the KYC and PII info are stored
2. How KYC and PII information is shared between company doing KYC check and Hosting company. is it over secure channel or over email
3. Any safeguards in place so that unauthorized employee can not access PII information
4. Do they check if they any data sharing request if the such request has been initiated as per law. Small companies will simply hand over the data
5. Does hosting company has compliance officer
marketing terms will be used, such as
"customers feel safe as they follow all the rules"
I challenge them to send email to every customer that they keep KYC and PII details for 5 years after the service end date and ask how many customers are feeling safe and secured.
There is a reason why companies like to hide such details.
Don't know why the hotzop guy is not clearly explaining this point that only small companies with 0.00000000000000000000001% hold on indian market are doing these selfie and other shit tactics .Bro we have not even seen your ad once on any platform , where companies are spending Billions to acquire the biggest growing cloud market in the world due to rising startups. Aws and azure has a very good grasp in our tech hubs like Noida and bengaluru and all the big and small startups are using them without any such bullshit formalities and i even met ovh team in a tech fest few months back in bengaluru. These companies are too much cooperative and make sure you do not face any small issue in onboarding and provide you hell of credits without even asking for too much documentatation and these small summer host companies pretend like they are very customer centric and do these shitty tactics.
Let me clear you all why these small summer host companies do this selfie and all bullshit it's because they do not even have budget to even hire a legal guy and if anything happens they directly introduce the customer with the officials and exits😂. But when it comes to aws, azure and other big players they have a lot of legal and other teams and ip abuse, spamming and other stuff are very ting things which is a cup of cake for their legal team to handle and only bothers the customer if some malicious activities are done at very large scale.
And Admin must have a basic networking and system administration test before onboarding . Bro you are separating cloud server and vps as separate things, Seems like you are just reselling from someone and never seen any server. In this world only one thing exist that is computer (RAM+PROCESSOR+DISK). Now you virtualize it and give it any fancy name vps, vds, cloud server BLA BLA BLA😂😂
Wait, but your signature says you are providing cloud servers? Are your cloud servers different From what AWS and Vultr offer?
