Ask your ISP to upgrade their networking equipment to equipment that was released in the 21st century. Good ISPs will give you at least a /56 range that you can then split up however you want (e.g. I have a few VLANs that each use a /60 range within the /56, then each system uses SLAAC or DHCPv6 to get an IP in that range).

You'd be surprised. Fios gave me a run for over 7 years promising ipv6 availability... soon (tm)...

Best scenario when you have practically just one service provider serving your neighborhood.

But this time I have heard my neighboring towns have started seeing ipv6.. so 🙃

Yeah, some ISPs are pretty bad about it. Some say there's no customer demand... But there's technically no customer demand for IPv4 either, lol.

At least mobile carriers in the USA are doing it right... A lot of them have IPv6-only networks now, using a translation layer (464XLAT or similar) to reach legacy IPv4-only servers. When you're not on wifi, it's likely your phone only has an IPv6 address. IPv6 should be faster on these networks, and Google's IPv6 tracker shows ~48% adoption and an average of 10ms less latency over IPv6.

    Well, there's @HostEONS, @v3ng, @mxmla and @EthernetServers, just to name a few.

Thanks for the mention we currently offer IPv6 only VPS in 4 locations - LA, NY, Portland and Salt Lake City https://my.hosteons.com/store/gigabit-ipv6-only-vps

It comes with 1 IPv6 by default, but you can get a /64 by submitting a ticket for free.

I'm my case they are acknowledging the demand and citing delays in deployment due to massive costs involved. Sigh...

U bet. I love tmobile for that. I have seen ipv6 as the primary driver for a long time.

Don’t know enough about the rest of them, but V6node starts at more compared to even DigitalOcean, with an included IPv4 (monthly)

Obviously you get more resources, but still, not cheap

We will eventually introduce smaller IPv6-only plans again.
However, only once we added the ability to disable the Dedicated IPv4 addon for those.

Smaller plans are notorious for abuse

Yeah, I see that. Not meant to be any criticism

  • speaking of "abuse" - who is lax about DMCA notices?

What about having smaller plans that are only available to customers with a good reputation (e.g. they've had another paid service for at least six months)? Something similar to BuyVM's premier status.
