Now compare them to someone in a similar market position during the same time frame. All looks fairly typical to me, overvalued stock makes it's way to where it should be and then starts to flow in line with the market, not really standing out.
I'd say good time to buy but meh, short of a great acquisition I don't see it doing more than just regular market flow. When they go up from here, I suspect the whole market does at the same time.
Granted that’s more of a commentary on their business than I thought I was making…
Oh well. I’m tired 🤣
When viewed from Japan, DigitalOcean does not have Japanese servers. Therefore, Japanese users are choosing Vultr instead. Some of them appear to have used DigitalOcean's Singapore servers several years ago.
Cloudflare is the future google, buy now if you want to be a billionaire in the future, like you missed out on google in the past.
Who are good comps?
We should make a LowEndBenchmark. $LEB
No, not closely, you said "especially" this year, so just to be clear, you consider 2 years close as well? -79 % vs. -18 %?
Just because it follows the same fluctuations dosen't mean the actual trend line is the same
The argument is moot because the reason DO is performing bad is BECAUSE of its "market position during the same time frame" - that's what MAKES the company
"DigitalOcean would have been a great investment if it was a different company that sold a different product"
need an archive team to store all their guides just in case...
RIP
Fair enough, I think that satisfies my interest in the topic 😂
I find the stock value and the level of tech expertise kind of unrelated.
There will be a lot of unrelated things going on from now on in the world, but that should have been in direct or indirect proportionality.
Not only the markets will go into a "moody" mode, but almost everything which depends on human nature.
The criticism is correct, the pricing and the marketing are shit, but the people could build a good tech company and expertise. Just that we, techies, are fucking autists and don't listen to the "feelings" of others and the world in general. We don't even understand ourselves and our needs.
I used DigitalOcean alot in the early days. Left when they got very meh compared to the competition. Performance dropped, compeditors introduced the niche features (e.g fast spin up, live snapshots, etc).
I still use DO for a few clients, mostly because they to this day have one of the most affordable S3 compatible services in the Sydney region. OVHCloud does too, but the implementation is poor.
I'll give them credit there, for that.
Thats keeping me in their circle until such day as someone else that I already more favourably use does, or might move more into their ecosystem should one of their compeditors fall out of favour (e.g Linode).
Cloud Compute and attached services is a cutthroat industry.
@SplitIce yes, it’s sad, but the market is probably one of the most competitve markets there around, with crazy low barrier to entry
It amazes me how people are still excited to enter it
DO still exists? /s
