Why is such a fuss ?.
I believe every provider on LEB has to follow their "Law of their Land" & comply it nah.
Provider also has explained his condition...
Let people decide
.
Until then Chill folks
Just to warn someone from making a dangerous mistake.
Frankly speaking HostZop can't do anything about KYC and related stuff. The host or even the general public can't question government decision there or else find their business seized, owners put behind bars and what not. Unless ofcourse someone has special contacts and basically is above the law.
Judging by how things are going, you may need to provide aadhaar/passport if you want to buy grocery in India, even then people will tell you how amazing all this bureaucracy is and it is needed to protect you from terrorists.
We are sure about this that in near future the verification/tracking is going to increase only. Hosting Companies need to adapt the process to work in India
You can build up all you want but it's already known that the more police measures the less willing to join in.
It’s already true though. Most people use UPI payments for groceries and things like that which requires phone number and bank account and those two must be linked to aadhar.
Companies like AWS/Azure do there verification process directly from payment transactions and client even dont know about it or he doesn't care because he is not sharing his details by his own hand.
Linkedin ask id proof and sometimes it stops the account and first ask to upload proof before opening the account again.
I dont think those companies also have an interest to support the police. But that is what they will do if gov ask them to.
Many big companies from abroad are now investing in India and these companies expect security for there assets which our country is putting efforts towards the same.
We also believe that if are not verifying who has taken server near your server, we are compromising with your security.
Yeah the provider is responsible for all the surveillance.
You can walk in a grocery store to buy prepaid sim in many countries, but in some countries you need to submit tons of documents along with pictures to get that prepaid sim card.
How is AWS Bombay fulfilling these required KYC conditions without asking for id proof or selfie pictures?
Well, a Singapore VPS with an Indian IP address is good enough for many customers
This is pretty normal in India, I had to verify KYC for leapswitch too (but i think they used a gov site for verification)
As I mentioned they have a partnership with payment gateway, that is why they ask for 1 Rs, transaction for free trial.
Can you please share the link
so next time i need a german vps, ill just use an american vps with german ip, because IP geo location is the only thing thats important right?
How is that verification fulfills condition of id verification, address verification AND picture verification?
What happens when a prepaid card is used for payment?
As far as I understand , if you are sharing a ID proof on internet , you can share anyones ID, but if you take a selfie and attach ID proof on withpersona.com, it can match and verify it clearly that the details you share are correct.
About AWS, when you are directly dealing with payment gateway, you dont need this process.
Looks like you missed "many" word in my post.
Prepaid Card works with many payment gateways.
The prepaid card may not have verified address.
And no credit card transaction can fulfill picture requirement of KYC
I just checked VULTR does not require any selfie picture requirement either.
Based on this, the selfie picture part is most likely, not a required part of KYC.
Picture requirement is only to verify the ID proof given is correct. Without authenticity ID proof is of no use.
Anything I’ve recently signed up for(brokers, banks etc) have always asked for a selfie along with my kyc proof /shrug
Even for opening bank account at ICICI Bank, selfie picture is not required.
It could be linked to fraud rate being much higher in some regions.
I recently opened one with HDFC, they took my picture lol so did Kotak a few months ago but yeah doesn’t really make sense since they verify biometrics via aadhar
This was NCR
I opened ICICI bank account from here and
I have no aadhar card or PAN card or Indian passport
They did ask for copy of my Indian visa
NRI account?
yes, it is called NRI account even though I am not an NRI.
Not even sure how that works
