In my view as an average user @CrossBox looks and works fine. The only think I would like to see is the support for identities/aliases, I had earlier raised this through their in app feedback option, never heard from the devs.
I said,
I meant post what you wrote in the ticket since you were criticizing the support agent specifically based on what you reported. The support agent isn't going to read LET and might not read other support tickets. You're being obtuse.
Very simple. But instead of posting that three posts ago, it's just more whining.
So stop whining.
You tryed to be smart, lost the argument but something inside you isn't capable to give up no matter what answer you get, so you're about to drive this personal bs further and further until you get the last word. Your standard modus operandi.
Do you really need this so much? Ok, you have it, your e-Schlong is bigger than mine, you won. Happy?
Crossbox looks great, I have been using it on Mxroute and wanted to setup on my own setup as well. But looks like their progress is kind of stuck. No update since almost a year. https://crossbox.io/changelog/page/crossbox-changelog
I love the idea of having one URL/setup to login to all email servers and their email GUI is also pretty nice.
Last time I went on chat with them (few months back) they said they are working on some updated for their StandAlone version. Yet to see any update about it.
Nextcloud (that you get from their app) is ancient now and you can not even update it like you would update your normal Nextcloud.
I understand that's not their main selling point (i.e. its an addon to their mail) but the update has to come from them (since you can not do it yourself).
Anyone has more insight about their progress (or continuity )
May be @jar can shed some light?
@CrossBox
Abandonware. Works until major CVE.
I also noticed the same. I'm a little concerned that CrossBox is abandoned
We last spoke 3 days ago. An update was pushed to their software to address an edge case of mine. Definitely not abandoned.
Hey folks,
Guess what? We're in the lab, cooking up the next-gen self-hosted suite – and let me tell you, it's no overnight miracle. Our squad, including the brainy devs, has been grinding for over a year. What's the goal? Imagine having an app on your own server that's on par with the big shots like Google Workspace – and hey, you can even sell it if you fancy.
But here's the deal – we're not racing to drop it just because everyone's antsy. We're shooting for a version that's solid, smooth, and beats the pants off the last one. So, a heads up: chill a bit, let the devs do their magic. These guys have been putting in the hours, and what they've pulled off in a year would make other software take three.
Android APP crash all of the time!
Strongly suggest you guys @CrossBox to consider providing the chance to integrate into Enhance. @JamieBeeston
That was nothing but a marketing/PR blah blah
1.5 years and they are still not fixing the bugs that will probably take a short amount of their time. Whatever they are cooking, isn't really working/happening anytime soon.
If any other mail system (smartermail/mailenable or even Mail-in-a-Box) will take more than 1.5 years to fix a bug (hint. Address import/export) or update one of their used script (i.e. Nextcloud), it really shows how serious they are about their customers.
Even if this project is not abandon, certainly not something you should be relying on.
It's just sad to see something that could have grown into something big being left out like this.
They are having issue doing basic things correctly. But don't worry, the will reply back saying we are cooking something amazing and Enhance integration will happen in next few years
MxRoute still using them is the only silver-lining here.
If not Crossbox then what? I get lots of requests for better email, and have considered qboxmail, icewarp etc all of which don’t thrill me. Crossbox has enough features to keep most users happy without going 365 route (delayed send, contact management etc). Is Crossbox really that bad?
I will not say it's bad. I just wish the team behind it will use some common sense and fix the bugs (and improve the actual setup) before implementing "features" that no one really needs.
I am currently exploring Smartermail .. (expensive for sure) but at least it just works. And everything you need from a professional email is all there. Smartermail is bringing out Linux version that will be a game changer. (fingers crossed)
In 1.5 years, they didn't fix the bugs which are important for any "standard" mail system but they are keen to implement "AI Features" .. (WTF)
Yeah Im torn between crossbox and polarismail for now. Not super keen on either. I did look at smartermail briefly but the price did put me off - and it's windows based. it's difficult not to justify office365 - although the cost isn't great.
They are two different products. Polarismail is mail service provider while you host @CrossBox yourself (likely on cPanel / DA server).
If you are looking for hosted setup, than you should probably go with MXroute. (Pretty solid setup)
If you look at WHT forum, the only people who mention Corssbox are people who are reselling MXRoute services.
It does seem like a project that could have been great but the developers (or people behind it) wasn't serious to get things done correctly.
This gives you an idea

I wonder what will happen if MXroute decide to remove them from their setup.
Sad to see a potential great product not getting proper attention from the company.
Hey @Umair,
We understand if you're not exactly singing our praises, and that's fine. But we're genuinely curious about why you're airing all your grievances about our company here on the forum. If you've got feedback or issues that need addressing, we're all ears. Just shoot us a message through our ticket system or hop on the live chat over on our website. We're here to help.
It's not often we encounter such strong criticism from customers, especially considering the positive experiences shared by the majority of our user base. Regarding the Trustpilot reviews you mentioned, it's worth noting that some of them may not accurately reflect the sentiments of genuine users, with fake reviews left by a competing company and a terminated customer account (Zeus).
We're proud to share that our software is now trusted by over 90 hosting providers, running smoothly across hundreds of servers. It's important to note that we don't actively encourage any of these providers to leave reviews. As you may already know, people are often more inclined to share negative experiences than positive ones.
Now, onto the matter of the software seeming neglected... We understand your concern, but rest assured, our team has been working tirelessly behind the scenes. We're committed to providing top-notch support to our customers, and we're always ready to go the extra mile.
If it seems like the software hasn't been getting much attention lately, it's because we've been gearing up for a major update that's been in development for over a year. This update involves significant changes to the core of our software, including rewriting the contacts module from Python to Golang and implementing a new CardDAV server. Additionally, improvements to third-party apps have been temporarily delayed as we focus on enhancing our update system.
We value your feedback and recognize the validity of your concerns. However, we believe that open communication through direct channels would be more effective in addressing these issues rather than airing them in a public forum.
Thank you and have a nice one!
For me both crossbox and Polaris are hosted, as I’ll be using a third party, as I don’t run crossbox on my accounts.
It’s about features seeing as it will be third party. Delay sending an email for example and small team collaboration, with out the expense of 365
I have an account with mxroute already, but this needs to be gdpr compliant
Please release the new Android app, that will fix known bugs!
@CrossBox Is there an option to mark emails as Read after few seconds only? I went through all Settings but did not find it. Roundcube has this option.
@kidrock Not available in the current version but has been implemented in v0.8.5.
@CrossBox is that true? -> https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3654227/#Comment_3654227
