@Infinity580 We were not moving to owned space before. The benefit of owning your own IP space is that in any future migrations that may happen the IPs can be brought with us.

It wasn't a merger but some purchases do sometimes involve involve stakes in the resulting entity etc. Here's an example http://www.internode.on.net/news/2011/12/259.php where 7.5% was part of the deal.
