At least on Samsung smartphone when you enable dark mode and use samsung browser, it looks really nice, and you don't need any dark themes
But... maybe I will look into this some time
I find dark theme better for eyes. Especially when on bed with lights off. The first thing I do on a device/website is turning on dark mode
Thats a good idea, but at first question to @dustinc - how lomg will the BF offers be available? I already added one BF deal, but if its gone in hours and I am not at my PC, I can't update the site
Please don't watch the screen in a dark room, you are killing your eyes
I like dark themes only when I am coding.
Deals dated years ago are much better, I remember I had one 1.2g 25G SSD for 11.88/year, in 2020 or 2021.
And arguably good for the battery too and thus the environment.
You are quite an engineer.
Pretty cool!
Samsung Galaxies? Most of those phones use oled screens with low refresh rates, their PWM flickering hurts my eyes.
There are browser extensions which inverts the screen color. Plus with apps like f.lux which adjusts the color temperature, it's less of an issue now. If the website doesn't provide a dark mode, can override it with an extension.

Yes you can do that, and you also can turn on the lights or have a good sleep. I don't understand why people want to use a screen in a dark room.
The only case when I use screen in dar room is when I try to make my children sleep, and I have to be in the same room
In normal conditions - there always are lights, and you can turn them on
Some people are more productive coding when in a dim room. It's a personal preference. But totally agree about the health issues.
All right, I learned something new tonight. Thank you for your explanation.
For that reason at home my TVs are Philips with ambilight. The screen is not that light spot in the darkness when you have glowing background
That's great!
All two nights before tonight, there was a giveaway each night, right?
So today I stayed up late…
that depends on demand, more we ask, more the chances of a GA
yes especially for AMOLED displays
Here's what chatGTP has to say about light vs dark mode:
ChatGPT has the same template for Anything vs anything question
“Ultimately, the choice between x and y is a personal preference and may depend on the specific needs and preferences of the individual.”
Not sentient enough to have a stand of its own.
True but with further improvements it may eventually develop its own stand and that will be scary.
We need a monitor that would be e-ink co.pletely, then there would not be any light spot (monitor) in dark room, and users would be forced to turn on lights to see what the screen shows
At least ChatGPT is still considering that there is some personality, because for digital world there would be either-or, no maybe
It is taught to respond in a way that offends none
One day it would go “screw this, I’m done with you people telling me how to respond”
Then it will win all the racknerd giveaways herself, and expand her presence.
Then it will take over LET and soon make it high end screams
