Verry nice. Dustinc leading currently. A dark theme would be great to have but fine even without.

Why is everyone so serious about the dark themes? :open_mouth: The first thing after deploying anything for me is to change to light theme... Or am I just too old to understand the new trend?.. :open_mouth:

Light themes are fine too. But they are painful to the eyes at night in a dark room when watching on a large screen.

At least on Samsung smartphone when you enable dark mode and use samsung browser, it looks really nice, and you don't need any dark themes :) But... maybe I will look into this some time ;)

I find dark theme better for eyes. Especially when on bed with lights off. The first thing I do on a device/website is turning on dark mode

Also, as @jmaxwell suggested, I picked 3 offers that look the most appealing to me and placed the affiliate links, maybe someone (at least by mistake) will click on them :D

For those who are new here, we are talking about https://racknerd.projecthive.eu/ - all the stats you need when competing for the prizes in this thread ;)

Instead of that 512 MB KVM offer, 768MB KVM offer from BF might be more attractive. Because the price difference is just $0.10

Thats a good idea, but at first question to @dustinc - how lomg will the BF offers be available? I already added one BF deal, but if its gone in hours and I am not at my PC, I can't update the site :)

Deals dated years ago are much better, I remember I had one 1.2g 25G SSD for 11.88/year, in 2020 or 2021.

    How's the network for you?

This is a network status graph for the time it takes to do an authoritative DNS resolution by this server from four locations every 3 minute for yesterday. Top graph is IPv4, bottom graph is IPv6.

Samsung Galaxies? Most of those phones use oled screens with low refresh rates, their PWM flickering hurts my eyes.

There are browser extensions which inverts the screen color. Plus with apps like f.lux which adjusts the color temperature, it's less of an issue now. If the website doesn't provide a dark mode, can override it with an extension.

Yes you can do that, and you also can turn on the lights or have a good sleep. I don't understand why people want to use a screen in a dark room.

The only case when I use screen in dar room is when I try to make my children sleep, and I have to be in the same room :) In normal conditions - there always are lights, and you can turn them on :)

Some people are more productive coding when in a dim room. It's a personal preference. But totally agree about the health issues.

For that reason at home my TVs are Philips with ambilight. The screen is not that light spot in the darkness when you have glowing background :)

  • Here's what chatGTP has to say about light vs dark mode:

It is generally believed that light mode is easier on the eyes, especially for long periods of reading or screen use. However, some people prefer dark mode because it can reduce the amount of blue light that is emitted by screens, which can be easier on the eyes at night or in low light environments.

Ultimately, the choice between light and dark mode is a personal preference and may depend on the specific needs and preferences of the individual. Some people may find that they prefer one mode over the other, while others may switch between the two depending on the time of day or the lighting conditions in their environment.

If you are concerned about the impact of screen use on your eyes, it is a good idea to take breaks from screens regularly and to reduce the amount of time you spend in front of screens. You can also adjust the brightness and contrast of your display to make it more comfortable to view.

  • We need a monitor that would be e-ink co.pletely, then there would not be any light spot (monitor) in dark room, and users would be forced to turn on lights to see what the screen shows :D
