Alibabacloud has some for 2.5$/m, cheapest I could find so far.
However, the GFW likely going to cockblock your VPN experince.

HK is usually cheaper bw wise.

    Sina Cloud container service.
Lowest plan has 2 cores, 256MB RAM, 5GB storage at 1000 IOPS, and it costs ¥0.03/hour.
Internet bandwidth costs ¥1.50/GB, with first 20MB/day ingress and 5MB/day egress free.

I've used this provider circa 2008 but only shared hosting free tier.

  • If you don’t have Chinese Nationality, never buy China Mainland VPSs.
    It is illegal.

Sina Cloud is based on Alibaba Cloud.

    what? since when?

  • Caught a MJJ

  • It’s a bit tricky.

  • Almost all require KYC and Chinese ID card.

  • Certainly if you operate a website within China, you need a licence for that. Perhaps they don't see any other reason why you might want a VPS.

  • barely impossible..try Hong Kong

    It is illegal.

Foreigners can have Chinese VPS if you provide your ID, see e.g. Alibaba Cloud: https://www.alibabacloud.com/help/en/account-management/latest/real-name-registration-faqs

Otherwise it is illegal, so you'd be buying from only the shadiest of providers.

  • Purchasing China VPS seems to require ID verification

Purchasing Hongkong VPS is not required

  • There are a few CN options, but you if you provision on the mainland, chances are good you will need to provide some verification (e.g., passport).

  • Servers in mainland China can provide passports for authentication. But to deploy a website in Mainland China on a server or CDN nodes, both individual and enterprise applicants must apply for an ICP Filing.
For individuals, It can be very difficult to get ICP without a Chinese ID card or a permanent residence permit for foreigners in China. You can only find something like Alibaba Cloud to handle ICP on your behalf.

There are many providers who can fulfill your need but be aware that cost is more than normal VPS as china bandwidth is expensive

  • go loc plz

  • Do NOT use Chinese mainland vps to host VPN nodes.

  • why? commercial broadband cost is insanely huge there :o

China VPS does not allow to install VPN, as VPN is illegal in China, Mainland.

  • Here are some things you need to know about buying servers in China:

The first thing, the purchase server must pass real-name verification, which usually requires an ID or passport.

The second thing, the payment method, needs to be through Alipay, WeChat or UnionPay channels. The likes of paypal and visa are often unaffordable.

The third thing, in China, using a VPN is generally a Tos violation, although with some tls traffic obfuscation, this can be dealt with to a limited extent, but that means you have to be proficient at it.

The fourth thing, if you are out of business needs, the best way is to request a dedicated provider and buy a legitimate dedicated line service. Multinational companies or companies with overseas operations usually have this kind of business. If you don't have such a budget, it's better to choose a Hong Kong server.

  • Well after all, is there any hong kong vps to use as VPN ??

    please submit offers.

@jayjay has Hong Kong (both NAT and dedicated IPv4).
    https://www.mlnl.host/
You can have them only if you are a millennial.

@Abd has Hong Kong (NAT only).
    https://natvps.net/
Now is not a good time as there's repeated network problem in this location.

Note that you can't access China mainland entertainment sites from Hong Kong VPN.
They would be recognized as out of region.
