Slow VPS, your tips for testing

Hello,

I bought a new VPS, and it is really slow.

I think there is a problem with the HDD, because reading is very fast, but writing is slow.

Do you have any advice for testing?

  • Create ticket to support, tell them exactly what is too slow and let them take a look.

  • You can start with running benchmark tests. There's plenty of scripts around or just use yabs and show results to your provider in a ticket.

Its good result, something worth like $4-$6/mo.

Yes, it's always the same problem.

I installed CentOS 7, and nothing else to try again.

    Here is the new result:

  • Maybe because of RAID Configuration on the provider's side??

Solution: cancel and buy from another provider.

    Here is the new result:

From the last result, the problem is from the provider side, contact their support.

  • Does anyone know why I always get these two messages when I run the test?

Fio binary download failed. Running dd test as fallback....
iperf3 binary download failed. Skipping iperf network tests...

Try installing fio and iperf3 manually yourself.

  • I redid the tests, but the network test did not work.

    I used another script.

What do you think of the results?
