Yes, you can generate wireguard configs from the dashboard.
@lirrr I've also got Windscribe lifetime and it's a really good VPN, too
@dahartigan Nice gesture! I also came from Nordvpn when I got my keepsolid lifetime sub in 2016. Never looked back ;D
i have fastest vpn lifetime however their apps are not so good specially their windows app sucks
I mostly use their android app and other than that manual configs on Windows (ovpn/ikev2). Haven't installed their Windows app.
I always thought windscribe was the more premium VPN over VPNU. Is it just speed not as good the only reason why you choose VPNU over it?
Don't get me wrong. Windscribe is great and has lots of cool, custom features. I'm still using it frequently. It's just that if you don't really need those extra features and speed (& stability) is the major factor, I'd prefer Keepsolid. Nostalgia is also a bit biased so take it with a grain of salt. Another thing is that Windscribe still shows an expiry date (currently in 2028) and while it supposedly renews my sub automatically free of charge, I prefer Keepsolid being bold and clear about it: "Your subscription period is LIFETIME".
Given that Keepsolid counts total devices and you have to remove a device when you reach the limit, I usually use it for Desktop while anything mobile devices/virtualbox VMs goes Windscribe or any of the other VPNs that just count concurrent devices, not total devices.
I didn't get windscribe lifetime back then, been regretting it. I did get VPNU and loving it, though their wireguard config sometimes doesn't work properly and would need regenerate.
Yeah definitely glad I grabbed Windscribe back then. Was really lucky
My father bought a lifetime subscription to a popular magazine. Rather than buy it for himself, he bought it for one of the grandchildren, who was 2 months old at the time. That was over 35 years ago. The magazine comes every month and is still enjoyed by the family.
I know VPNU does time out their Wireguard configs, so if you only use something ever so often you will have to regenerate like you said.
Quite frankly IMO all VPNU has to do to get to Windscribe's level in my use case is to add whitelisting to the browser extension. They already have whitelisting for LAN addresses, so they're not too far off.
Ah, that's good to know. I don't use VPN everyday, unless if I need to switch region to bypass something (video, gaming, etc). VPNU works great for me, but I do hope their wireguard config lasts forever so I don't have to go in and do it basically each time I need to use it though.
Eventually, I downloaded their windows app. Works good most of the time, but I do notice some servers fails to connect. Could be a temporary issue at that time, doesn't bother me too much though.
Thanks to @Ympker, I also grabbed a sweet lifetime deal of the VPN unlimited. Except of a few annoying bugs with the browser extension, everything else was stable and the wireguard works perfectly. I think I've been using it for almost two years now.
@TimRoo, agreed. There are a few things VPNU is missing in terms of browser extension and with windscribe this experience is indeed smoother at the moment.
Is anyone successfully using their manual openvpn config files with Linux? For me those didn't work.
You should try wireguard config for Linux
Yes, wireguard works well. However openvpn would be more convenient to switch locations on a device (without needing to install the app), since I read you can have different working ovpn configurations per device, while with wireguard only the most recent one is kept active.
I see keepsolid has servers in India. How does it work in the context of recent changes in Indian law regarding mandatory logging and retention for VPNs? Or are they virtual servers not physically present in India so exempt from the law ?
Best to ask support, but I assume they'd be virtual.

Doesn't seem like they have them anymore
You could try if it works with Eddie Client developed by Airvpn which is OpenSource and supports any ovpn/wireguard: https://eddie.website/
They still have and I’m connected to one.
@Ympker
All pervasive AI thinks Lifetime SaaS deals lead you to the dark side.
That's the plan. I hear the dark side has cookies, or so they say
Another thing is that Windscribe still shows an expiry date (currently in 2028) and while it supposedly renews my sub automatically free of charge, I prefer Keepsolid being bold and clear about it: "Your subscription period is LIFETIME".
I hope the part about windscribe automatic renewal is right. I bought the lifetime on stacksocial and remember reading in the tnc to contact support for renewal after 10years.
