    VPS with AMD Threadripper CPU

    It was bridge between AMD Ryzen (low core, high mhz) and AMD EPYC (high core, low mhz).

    AMD doesnt make them anymore after Zen3 release as Ryzen chips are up to 16 cores and EPYC chips can be high frequency.
    So Threaripper VPS will have a little bit older cores which are not as fast as Ryzen 5xxx/EPYC 7xx3.

    You are looking at EPYC 7xx2 performance if its Threadriper 3xxx and EPYC 7xx1 if its Threadripper 1xxx.
    There is big gap between 1 and 2 generation so I wouldnt recommend 1xxx / 7xx1, you should find a lot better options with Xeon 2xxxV4.
    2nd gen 3xxx / 7xx2 is still very fast, but generation behind. :)

    Or to make it more clear
    Zen1 = EPYC 7xx1, Threadripper 1xxx, Ryzen 1xxx
    Zen1+ (same shit as standard Zen1) = Threadripper 2xxx, Ryzen 2xxx
    Zen2 = EPYC 7xx2, Threaripper 3xxx, Ryzen 3xxx
    Zen3 = EPYC 7xx3, Ryzen 5xxx. No threadripper.

    There's huge difference between Zen1 and Zen2. Smaller difference bwtween Zen2 and Zen3.

    Zen2 is sweetspot if you look at offers here. Lower proce, still great performance.

    Since you got explanation already, you need to know one more thing that threadripper vps can it rip threads of very reality and can cause chaos where you may end up using CPU power from alternate universe.

    I just got a VPS with these specs

    AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3975WX 32-Cores
    4 CPU x 4.20 GHz
    16 GB DDR4 ECC RAM
    120 GB Gen. 4 NVMe Storage
    20 Gbps Network @ 25 TB

    So i was asking if this a better server than a normal one ?

    Well I forgot about that one, because that's custom CPU made for older workstations (such as Lenovo P620) in order to provide upgrade path. They are not available anywhere else, only from OEM channels for these workstations. You wont find them in the shops or in servers.

    Serious data center runs EPYC, Xeon, and Ampere.

    You mean hosting gameservers? Often that requires high single-core and 3,5 GHz is not crazy high but it should be ok

    The term bodice ripper - and bodices are made out of threads - is a popular subgenre of romantic fiction.     Its like a chip for Xbox or Playstation. Its customized for one company and you cant buy just CPU in shop.
