Amazing region deployment speed! For a really "budget", and "cheap" CSP, Contabo is a really nice choice (except VPS).
Let's try to guess the next region which will be launched?
    Paris, Lisbon, Madrid, Zurich?

Hopefully Madrid, that would compete with "upcoming" OVH DC in Spain if they keep the same low prices. Contabo said they would announce more locations later this year.

I think they will launch Sydney next.

Sydney with 32TB traffic on their cheapest VPS would be crazy good offer. I would say its impossible, but they already have 32TB in Singapore so... Who knows

I can’t help but feel that, despite the budget-friendly nature of the services we celebrate within this fine community that for some reason anything less than the full use of a 1Gbps connection is viewed as an unforgivable cardinal sin!

I respectfully disagree. Mainly two reasons, (a) the famous "1 Gb/s" usually means "1 Gb/s shared" or "node has 1 Gb/s eth." and both usually don't guarantee any particular speed for the VMs, and (b) Contabo / @contabo_m and some others who clearly tell a speed/limit per VM actually often have better/higher speed adapters (typ. dual 10 Gb/s).

So, at least very often, "1 Gb/s" sounds better but "200/400/[xx0] Mb/s" actually is better/faster.

10 or maybe even 5 years ago "1 Gb/s" may have been an indicator of "fast connectivity" but nowadays (with pretty much all halfway recent server hardware) I take it to indicate "that VPS is on an old node and you actually get no speed guarantee at all"

Sir, you have not so much respectfully disagreed with me as talked about something else entirely. What ho!

what is their cancellation policy if order more than 1 month? how do you cancel vps with them? just leave to expire like ovh or need to contact ?

You need to manually cancel the service, if I remember correctly, at least 7 days prior to the renewal date.

  • Not a good start for me. The signup was in EUR even when the United Kingdom location was selected. I asked them to change the currency from EUR to GBP, but they want a $25 admin fee to do it.

Then if I try to reset the password for VPS or reinstall OS it says

"The requested action is temporarily not available. If you still receive this message after 60 minutes, please get in touch with our support department."

And it is 2022. Why do they not have a ticket support system? Email-only in 2022 :(

So I have not even been able to test the VPS yet.

I think I will stick with the tried and tested ones.

Sounds like a simply horrid situation to find yourself in, Sir. I do hope you are able to find another provider who can meet your quite reasonable requirements.

The price in GBP costs 40% more than the price in EUR, so stick with what you've got! You accidentally got a better deal.

Also odd they'd charge you in USD to change billing from EUR to GBP!

Also, WTF? The prices in GBP look like they're dividing by the exchange rate instead of multiplying!

The 5.99 EUR server (worth 5.07 GBP) is priced at 6.99 GBP. And that's before you add the surcharge to get the server in the UK, which instead of 1 EUR (worth 0.85 GBP) is charged at 1 GBP.

A 40% markup for a currency conversion seems a little steep.

EDIT: Just checked and a EUR 7.49 (about 7.92 USD) gets turned into 9.99 USD too, so I guess they're happy screwing over any customer who doesn't want to use EUR.

They do the same for USD. If you are a non-EU customee it's best to use a switzerland IP to buy for lowest price

True, but I cancelled it for the reasons that I mentioned. I could not reset the VPS password or reinstall OS within their control panel, saying to try again after 60 minutes, which I did. I could have changed the password manually, but I don't have time for those password reset/reinstall OS issues.

If they fix those issues and have a proper support ticket system, I will reconsider, but until then, I will stick to the other providers I have been using for decades.

I would have suggested ‘difficult’, I’m an unsure how eating an individual’s shirts is kinky unless this is a euphemism I am unaware of?

It’s a fucking Simpsons reference, you melt.
